Re: Misc shots
Looking good, Randy. How do you like your 135? I'd really like a nice sharp, fast telephoto for portraits indoor sports. I'm debating whether to get the 135 or the new 70-200 F2.8 MKII. Yeah, I know, the zoom is nice. But... the 135 might be all I need and even better for indoor work with the extra stop. And I get to save… -
Chal ginger Bridges 4 27 PS
Thanks for the comments, everyone. While you all were posting, I was redoing, from the beginning, the bridge shot. This is what I did, and it was as little as possible. Hadn't read yet about going for broke with cropping, etc, so I did little trying not to do wrong. cleaned the dust spots, used levels slightly and manually… -

Re: Shooting Conventions - suggestions?
Silly question... what kind of prints are you thinking about selling??? I have an old Canon Selphy sub-dye printer that I used once at a nightclub of all places... I shot the people coming into the nightclub and if they wanted their photo, it was $5.00 per print... I'd give one of those little tickets that you get at a… -
A Stunning Pair of " Duesey's "
The name Duesenberg has long been associated with automotive excellence. In the 20's and 30's, this U.S. manufacturer produced what are generally regarded as being the finest cars built anywhere in the world. The one pictured below is a 1931 Duesenberg Derham Tourster model J-448. This very car is considered to be one of… -
Re: LPS#8 feedback thread
Thanks Indiegirl, that means alot to me!!! I have been off-line for a few days due to a flood in my house, and just barely got back on the computer in time last night to use Photoshop. I almost fell out of my chair looking at the entries this round. I just want to say that I am so hugely impressed with the quality and… -
Re: system error(nofiles)
I have - it's the result of either (a) an OS kernel running out of available file handles, or (b) a shell process running into it's limit of open file descriptors. In either case, if the system can't open a file because it's run out of file handles, it'll throw a "nofiles" error and terminate the process. Find a Unix admin… -
Re: Broken old Canon 300mm 2.8
Plea Hi, Thanks for the tip on KEH, they have been very helpful, and told me what the price is for the spare ($108). However they don't want to sell me the spare, but gave me the Canon US spares number. I said thanks a lot and called the number. Bottom line is Canon US will not/cannot ship outside the US. Canon UK, say… -
Re: Dealing with seamless paper background
Thanks for the ideas. I was thinking that I should tape the edge to prevent the tearing, but with two kids running around I didn't have time to look and not have them knock everything over on top of themselves :) When I started rolling the paper back up, quite unsuccessfully I might add, I decided to cut a piece of the…
