I'm selling my Sigma 24-60mm f2.8 EX lens b/c I thought I'd use this with my 5D as a walking around point and shoot stuff. But I bought a much smaller Olympus e 420 instead. Since I'm a prime guy, the zoom must go. :) I bought this fairly recently, just before it got discontinued so it comes with a new center pinch Sigma… -

Re: More winter wonderland or is snow white!
Hi Dee The snow isn't actually white - it reads as grey with the eye dropper thingy - anywhere from 170 to 190 in these shots, but it is the same reading in all 3 color spaces or channels or whatever - forgive my lack of real knowledge here. There have been a few threads discussing the color of snow. And many ideas on how… -

Death Valley, Hwy 190 closure, planning help needed
I am flying to Las Vegas on Saturday to spend the week in Vegas at a convention. I have from Saturday morning to Monday afternoon to see a few sites. I was in LV last Feb so I have seen Hoover Dam and the Valley of Fire. I am looking at heading to Death Valley since I have never been there. Checking the NPS website, I… -
Re: Manfrotto 486RC2 with XTi?
I will try to address your questions. I have this head, and use it with a 30D plus a 24/105 (sometimes with three extension rings). This is a heavy and eccentric load, although not as off centre as a 300 or 400 tele. The only drawback is that after you've locked the ball into place there will be some elastic deflection… -
Re: Flash Guide Number - std units??
I got a quick (but, it turns out) partial answer by contacting Adorama directly. Its guide numbers for studio flashes are quoted in feet, at ISO 100 The 300 watt-second flash example I indicated has a guide number of 115, in feet, at ISO 100. So that part of the mystery is solved. However, now how do I compare a studio… -
Tripod Clamp?
I'm looking for a clamp that attaches to the lower leg of a tripod that will accept a ballhead to get the camera very close to the ground. Beanbags have been suggested, but their bulkiness make them less than practical to carry around in the field. I've seen a Manfrotto one in a camera shop, but it seems to be a bit heavy…
