Re: Basketball Tournament Time...
Uhm. Thats easy! Lights cycle at 60Hz in the US. Shooting video, you're doing 24 or 30fps. You are below the 1/60th of a second cycle of the lights, so the camera won't notice it, and typically when you shoot video you shoot 2x the speed you are shooting. So, 24fps is 1/48 and 30 is 1/60. So, reason why you don't see it is… -
Re: A day in the life of dgrin! - the Big Reveal!...#2
Autumn leaves, archery, geese and snooker. I had a wonderful plan all laid out for Shootin' Saturday. First problem was I outdid meself in the wake up late part. I woke up around 10 am, ate and fell asleep again. This caused some worries along the lines of getting shoot everything and caused some over hurriedness in the… -
Re: Various pricing and sizes on a site
Let me add some fodder to the declarations that pricing is irrelevant to the sales figures of your business model. I work for a small-town newspaper. Our coverage area is vast in size, but only serves 28,000 people. Our Facebook page has 2,800 followers. It's well known that we cover sports well, and I'm known as a very… -
My first week as a studio photographer
Disclaimer: Please review the thread title when you read something that makes you wince.:twitch I picked up my first DSLR last summer to supplement my web design business. I used a film SLR for several years back in the 80s, but had gotten away from it and then abandoned it altogether once we got our first point-and-shoot.… -
Like new Averatec AV3360-EH1 512MB 80GB 12.1" DVD +/-RW with WiFi (IEEE 802.11g)
I bought this laptop in April in preparation for a two-week vacation to France so I could download photos and process them with Photoshop CS2. It met my needs for that splendidly but has just been sitting and collecting dust since I got back. Running time on the battery is a little over 3 hrs although I'm sure that… -

The story behind the sunflower... I didn't even know about the theme for this challenge when I took my sunflower shot. I was just riding around out in the hills and valleys of Northwest Georgia looking for whatever may catch my eye. I just happen to come around the bend and, Oh look! sunflowers!! So I turned around and saw… -
Re: I HATE the new features
Yes, Anne, it does. And frankly, from my watching of the commentary since the beta went live, about 60% of the stuff I've seen from people can be broadly characterized, IMO, as "there are about 7 potential audiences for a SmugMug hosted site, and I feel you've forgotten about *mine*". Having not customized my own, fresh… -
Re: Poll about something that came up with Bay Photo.
I can understand that any certain number of photos might be seen as too many or too few on delivery. Some photographers deliver 800+ photos from every wedding, after shooting and culling 2000-3000, and that's not my standard, for sure. I usually average 300-400 shots delivered at a wedding, but I also usually have a 2nd… -
Re: Slow Uploads?
Thought I would run a trace route - don't know what it means. I just did a 913K upload that took 11 minutes 41 seconds ......... =================================================== === VisualRoute report on 30-Oct-06 11:59:46 AM === =================================================== Report for www.smugmug.com… -
Re: LPS20 - Unofficial Feedback Thread
A Few More..... 41: Not enough of the face in view to see any message conveyed, in fact, what expresson I can see on the face seems on the edge of not liking the scent of the rose, or perhaps not quite wanting to touch rose to nose. Cropping, cropping cropping. Cropping out most all but the lower right quadrant of the…
