Re: New lens?
Then you have two very good options: 1. The extension tubes, 2. The Nikon 105 mm macro lens (called micro by Nikon). Attached is the PZ review link: http://www.photozone.de/Reviews/Nikkor%20/%20Nikon%20Lens%20Tests/224-micro-nikkor-af-s-105mm-f28g-if-ed-vr-review--test-report Incidentally, the Nikon 105 mm is one of the… -
Re: Another Shooting Hobby
Thanks! Its actually .224 Caliber I bought it for primarily target range shooting, and coyote hunting. It will be great on the bench as it is quite heavy at 13 lbs with scope. Not great for packing around hunting, but i prefer to sit down in the woods and call coyotes in while resting rifle on shooting sticks, so wieght… -
Small point & shoot and Photoshop
I get sick of carrying my DSLR and gear around with me all the time - especially since I ride a motorcycle. I picked up a Sony DSC-W5 and absolutely love it in most situations. I took this picture in Louisville the other day of The Great Steamboat Race (one of our pre Kentucky Derby activities) in full color but changed it… -

Re: WTB: Alien Bees B400 or B800
Fair price is subjective, it depends on a lot of things. For example, if AB 400 strobe is $224 brand new with 2 year warranty and extra 10% off for students. Then why would anyone would pay $200 for a used unit that has changed hands few times?! and its at Half-life. Ebay costs sellers to sell and list, however, on boards… -
Re: 7D burst mode counter
Good on you for this self-discovery. On page 224 of the user manual*, it mentions, under "C.Fn II-2 High ISO speed noise reduction", ... "With setting 2, the maximum burst for continuous shooting will greatly decrease." Setting "2" is for the highest level of noise reduction. For a compromise you may wish to choose "0",… -

Re: Laptops
NEW Laptop with IPS panel I just came across a post that 99% confirms there is now a Windows OS laptop available with an IPS type panel. When I first saw the shots of its' screen my jaw dropped. The tell tale is the shot from below the screen. HP 8740W Elitebook with 1920x1200 17" Dreamcolor screen with RGB LED back light.… -
Re: don't want photos to be public
Hi akbdeck, thanks for posting. I think we've been doing that? I don't really have much to add to Baldy's prior posts in this thread, and that it's absolutely a priority thing for us all at SmugMug. But in the interest of trying to shed more light on things... There were some unexpected things found during development:… -
Re: Can youz test a new uploader?
I answered my own question when I looked at the speed again, Kb vs KB. This makes sense since you can see if your bandwidth is saturated easier. I don't like the fact that it doesn't do multiple streams like the simple uploader. I've tried running multiple sessions once so far, but I've been having problems adding files.…
