Re: One Darn Fantastic Deal 16gb Cf $79
Higher speeds wasted on most dSLRs And probably most cameras don't support 266x (40 MB/sec) write speed. You can put a 266x card in a "regular" dSLR and probably only get 80x to 133x write speeds out of it. For the person who asked about conversion factor, "1x" for flash cards is 150 KBytes per second (KB/sec). So 133x =… -

Re: Need help with telephoto.
The VR is not the only difference in the VR version if the 70-300. The optical quality is on a totally different plane. See these reviews: Nikon 70-300mm VR: http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/992/cat/13 Nikon 70-300 (non-VR): http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/122/cat/13 While the… -
Re: Looking for DIY projects....
Ok here is your challenge. The LED's you substituted are 3.6 V, 20 mA That is what they need to ignite. With a 6V battery that would need (6-3.6= 2.4 V to get a 2.4 volt drop at 20 mA you need a U=IXR 2.4=.020AXR R=120 ohms) or with a 9V battery you would need (9-3.6=5.4V 5.4 drop at 20 mA => 270 Ohm). The error snuck in… -
Smugmug upload and view photo slow problem
The photo view and upload is very smooth a few months ago, but don't know why the download and upload photo speed is very poor. Uploaded x26 photos (6M / each) takes me several hours. Re: adobe bridge to photoshop error
This is the first file I have ever had a problem with and as for the chip (transcend 4gb 133) it was or is brand new, formatted in the camera, prior to shooting. Like I said this was a weird occurrence with a raw file in the middle portion of the sequence of shots. all others loaded fine. With the help of all on here and… -
DGrin Mini-Challenge #133 - TableTop Photography
The new Challenge is "TableTop Photography" in which your subject is a still life or arrangement of your choice. Though the Official Rules say that the photograph can be from your archives, I prefer "fresh" shots. The whole idea of a mandate in something like this is to get you out and shooting on assignment and not… -

Re: Panoramas
I never had any problems with either the temps (which weren't really that cold at all) or condensation. Despite being right along the coast, the humidity was always quite low so there was no reason to stick the camera in one of those big zip-loc baggies. I also had no problem with battery life, although I did have 2… -
Re: CF Cards for a 1D MII
I do action photography with a 1DII. Like Ziggy said, it doesn't have UDMA capability. However, I like to get faster cards like the Kingston 133x you mentioned. Two reasons: 1. faster download speed (if you've got a fast reader). 2. The 1DII doesn't have UDMA, but your next camera probably will. I have that Kingston one,…
