Invalid XML Format on REST response
It appears that an element's text returned from a REST may not be encoding extended characters properly. I'm seeing it one several of my photo's Caption fields. For example: http://jayandshell.smugmug.com/gallery/361508/1/14444233/Medium On a call to smugmug.image.getInfo, the return had a badly encoded character at byte… -
Re: What am I doing wrong?
Michael - do a search here on dgrin for shooting snow scenes - rutt and I have had several threads about shooting the highlights in snow scenes and they are pertinent here because your image highlights are very underexposed. When I meter the highlights in the water in your images, they read barely neutral grey, no higher… -
Re: I'm shooting a Wedding Advice please
There are 168 hours in a week. The average person works 40. 128 left. Take away 56 hours for sleep (8 hours avg) and you've got 72 hours left. Take 30 mins to resize your top 10 and (we'll assume dial up) upload them to photobucket/flickr accounts and I'll even give you an hour to put the images in this thread... So you… -
DSS #45: CC for "Countdown"
Upon several ideas I had for this week's challenge, I chose one in which I utilized a Speedlite strobe to take multiple exposures during a 168 second exposure. Two bursts of hard flash on the left and right sides of the subject + 1 pop of red on 3 + 1 pop of blue on 2. Thereby forming an image of a subject 'counting down'… -
Re: How do you price a camera to sell?
I just sold a mint, low use canon 1n film body for $168 on ebay... it broke my heart! That was a $2300 body 5 or 6 years ago. I bought it used a couple years ago for about $300... oh well, such is film. As for Craigslist, FME the downside there is you get a lot of people setting up apts to come look and many never show.… -

S*E v 168: no need for admin mode under Vista The new version uses the new protection/licensing system (VSPS) instead of the old one (ICE). The old system had a major disadvantage under Vista, since it required S*E to run in Administrator mode, at least several times. The new system is lighter, faster and is… -
T-Ball action at 400mm
Well almost. My wife and I went to watch our grandsons (pics #3 & #4) play ball today and I took the 30D, the Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 and a 1.4x TC. That gave me 168-420mm f/4. Although I did take the converter off late in the game for some shots through the backstop, I kept it on for most of it. With the power to reach out… -
Re: Lenses: Canon 18-55mm kit vs 28-105 3.5-4.5 USM II
true, the 28-105 is muchhhhh better build quality, has pretty fast USM, and is a great all-around starter lense... however, many times i find myself wanting someing on the much wider end. the 18-55 and the 1.6 crop make it a 28-88 the 28-105 and the 1.6 make it a 44-168 so you have to figuer out... A) how wide would you… -
LR2, Genuine Fractals or PS4 for raw to humongous file
I have a client who has a Canon raw file with a size of 10.8 mb. She needs to make this file 168" tall (14 feet), we are cropping the image to make a diptych and I will be removing rocks, debris and adding "pond scum" in photoshop. Then we will print the images on canvas. My question is, would it be better to bring the… -
Re: Oklahoma City
The Chairs Oklahoma City National Memorial - Chairs at Night The chairs are constructed of a solid seat and back, mounted atop a glass base, which is inscribed with a victim's name. By day, the chairs seem to float above their translucent bases, just as memories of loved ones seem to float past at any given moment. By…
