DGrin Mini-Challenge #133 - TableTop Photography
The new Challenge is "TableTop Photography" in which your subject is a still life or arrangement of your choice. Though the Official Rules say that the photograph can be from your archives, I prefer "fresh" shots. The whole idea of a mandate in something like this is to get you out and shooting on assignment and not… -
Re: adobe bridge to photoshop error
This is the first file I have ever had a problem with and as for the chip (transcend 4gb 133) it was or is brand new, formatted in the camera, prior to shooting. Like I said this was a weird occurrence with a raw file in the middle portion of the sequence of shots. all others loaded fine. With the help of all on here and… -
Re: Panoramas
I never had any problems with either the temps (which weren't really that cold at all) or condensation. Despite being right along the coast, the humidity was always quite low so there was no reason to stick the camera in one of those big zip-loc baggies. I also had no problem with battery life, although I did have 2… -
Re: CF Cards for a 1D MII
I do action photography with a 1DII. Like Ziggy said, it doesn't have UDMA capability. However, I like to get faster cards like the Kingston 133x you mentioned. Two reasons: 1. faster download speed (if you've got a fast reader). 2. The 1DII doesn't have UDMA, but your next camera probably will. I have that Kingston one,… -
Re: I'm visiting Irvine California
Well, I haven't joined the thread yet... :p Yep, Laguna Beach would be a great place to go. As would the beach at Newport Beach, or just up the coast to Huntington Beach--near the piers are nice areas for hanging out. Santa Monica is on the other side of LA & a lengthy drive, I wouldn't bother considering the time… -

Re: lightroom 3.6 and smugmug publishing
turns out my upload problems were entirely due to Kaspersky 2012 Antivirus. I disabled it, and poof, uploads worked. So I re-enabled it and added an exception for Lightroom, and uploaded 133 pics last night as an album without a glitch. in kaspersky, go to 'settings', 'advanced settings' (the cardboard box tab), 'threads… -
Re: compact flash card
I have bought and used most of the major brands of CF cards and I have finally settled on Transcend and ai have worked my way thru carious speeds of cards as I buy when on sale and it has usually been when I order a 133x card then the next time I want to add to the collection I have to go with the 266 or higher as that is… -
Re: Boys and Girls High School Basketball (6 pictures)
Every image is crooked; leaning to the left. Make sure you straighten them in post. Save yourself the effort in the future by paying attention to the verticle lines when shooting. These seem over flashed to me. The oriental girl in #5 has blown out cheek bones with more natual skin tones other places. This is a result of… -
Re: Big Problem - People are printing the Large version and it looks great
You are not understanding dpi correctly. dpi is mostly a meaningless label on the image. It has little to do with how the image will print. I can give you an image labeled at 1000dpi or 20dpi that will print exactly the same. It makes absolutely NO difference what dpi label a Smugmug Large-size image has. It will not…
