Re: Would a 7d pay for it self?
I told myself that in 09 I wouldn't buy a camera, I also told myself that business wise I wouldn't buy another till I could swing a 1D series (I have beef with the 5D, no $2k+ camera should be supported by Canon as an advanced amateur camera). I have a 40D, 30D, and 20D. The 40D got serviced just out of warranty for a main… -
Re: canon 70-200 f2.8 or the 70-200 f4
Are you sure about that? I know the 17-40 f/4 L requires a front filter because the front element moves. I didn't think the 70-200 models had this requirement. (I generally keep a B+W MRC UV filter on all my lenses anyway.) It should be. It's a significantly newer lens. Not quite true. All the 70-200 models have eight… -
Re: Seeking tripod recommendation
A tripod with a center column is not the end-all, be-all tripod for all occasions, and certainly not for serious wildlife use. Any time you design something that attempts to do everything, compromises are made. For example, what's the weight rating on your tripod, Justiceiro? The better tripods without center columns are… -
Re: Magic photoshop button strikes again...
A REALLY good question actually, divamum! If you're not paying $5000 for a complete set of fully retouched photos, what ARE you paying for? Well, it comes down to the cost of running a business, AND quite simply just how many hours are in each day. Preferably photographers would like to just work 8 hours a day, 5 days a… -
Re: HELP! Custom pricing issue...
The gallery listing i was looking for in the dropdown menu list showed up (I checked numerous times for it...can't see how i could have missed it before), so this is good. Unfortunately, the plan i had to set prices using the "apply prices from previous galleries" technique in order to create "tiered pricing" would not… -

Re: Easier uploading for pro's?
Hi folks. After reading this thread tonight, I decided to download the trial of Star Explorer. It's working very spotty - Is Star Explorer a beta version, by any chance? I set all my options and confirmed it is connecting with my account. Then I created a new gallery within Star Explorer - all is OK so far. The problems… -
Re: Selling digital files, pricing
A company I work for recently bought images from smugmug. We will do so again - main criteria: - Easy to search for a particular theme (content) so think about Tagging your images to make searching easier.. - Very reasonable pricing. Great individuality, better effect than 99% of stock images which are outstandingly… -
Re: Pricing for Wedding Photography
Where have you seen 30d's for $350? I checked ebay right after I made the post out of curiousity and the 20d's were around $350 to $400, normally with out a lens. Then I checked 30d's and the cheapest I seen was $500 body only. both of those were buy it now. I wasnt having any luck with regular auctions when I got my 20d… -
