Re: debarralized Fisheye and image quality
I think the problem is that there is not just one "fisheye" specification for a lens. The more distortion you have to correct for, and whether the lens is used on a crop camera, etc., can have dramatic effects on the outcome. Likewise, there is not one method of correction but several, so the software used will have a… -

Re: Wide Angle lens help
The widest FF zoom that you can purchase, as far as I know, is the Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG HSM. It's pretty wide when it's used on a DX/crop 1.5x/1.6x body, and the only true "ultra-wide" zoom when it's used on a FX/FF body, with an AOV of 122 degrees. Quality tends to vary so be sure to purchase from someone who… -
Significant Race Cars You've Never Seen
I've written of Harry Miller before and shown you some of his more successful designs in race cars. The contributions of this man to the early American race scene cannot be over-stated. The following two cars are prime examples of his brilliance in automotive engineering. This man's works spanned 4 decades.....during the… -
Weekly Assignment #122: Stack It Up!
Bug shooters, flower chasers and macro lovers been doing this trick for ages. Now it's time to try our own version of focus stacking. The concept comes from a situation when you shoot wide open (i.e. extremely shallow DOF), yet you need to cover a rather large distance with your focus (10 or more times deeper than your… -

Request to Sort by SubCategories
Hi, I'm still a newbie in Smugmug. But I would like to recommend a suggestion to enhance this site... I am trying to organize my pictures, but could not find a sorting/arrange function for the subcategories page (besides “Organize galleries by Position” on the homepage). Positing-sorting-by-galleries is a work around, but… -

Re: Curves 101
Anthoney , we need to understand where our white and black points come from. They come from the print, not from the monitor. At least for me. This is a point that is not well discussed or explained. Kelby and others always describe setting a black and white point your Photoshop, but not that your really want to get this…
