Smugmug upload and view photo slow problem
The photo view and upload is very smooth a few months ago, but don't know why the download and upload photo speed is very poor. Uploaded x26 photos (6M / each) takes me several hours. Please give me a hand of the trace route record as captured below C:\>tracert -d cmac.smugmug.com Tracing route to a539.b.akamai.net… -
First Senior Photos
I am a first time "poster" here in the People section since I typically take sports action photos. I decided to try my hand for the first time at doing some Senior photos of a friend. Please review and share any advice with me that you can as I would like to photograph more seniors. All of these photos were done with a… -
Re: Diners: How About It? (27)
Nice.. I just wish it were closer.. I need to grab my glasses... got any others? I like Diners..As a matter of fact before I chose a different route, on the series shoot.. I was thinking about shooting Popes Cafe here in Shelbyville, TN right down the road from me here.... it was in a movie.. and they had awesome pie. It… -
Re: Camera insurance for amateurs?
I had a conversation with my State Farm agent today regarding camera/gear insurance. She said if there was any income generated from the use of the insured camera or gear, then there would be a coverage question should a loss occur if you went with a non-professional "personal article floater". So I asked a different way,… -
Re: Good starter tripod
I'll give my 2cents also. I have a Bogen 3021BPro and a Bogen 488RC2 head. The head runs a little under 90 dollors. I think a good head for the money (good bang for your buck) I wouldnt go down much from here beacuse I would be afraid of the head sliping and damaging my camera and lenses. And those are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy… -
Re: Aperture Integration? Woo-Hoo!
Hi. As a longtime Aperture and SmugMug user, I was really excited yesterday when I saw this news. I upgraded to 3.5 right away last night! That being said, in order to upload to SmugMug from Aperture, I've been using a plugin called "SmuginProForAperture" for several years now, and it's really been working well for me. I… -
Re: 30-bit display for any gamut you want
CS3 supports 16 bits per channel. That HP display is 10 bits per channel. My NEC 2090 Uxi has 12-bit color look-up tables, but those extra tones are only used to make sure any color or gamma corrections still produce smooth gradients without banding artifacs. The amount of actual tones displayed at any time is the usual 8… -
Re: Smugmug SLOOOOW (International Network Connectivity)
Edit: Ok so the current slowness is due to a software update at Smugmug. Anyway, here's a traceroute from Finland where Smugmug is intermittently kind of sluggish... Tracing route to hera.smugmug.com [63.81.134.23] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1 2 7 ms 8 ms 7 ms so-erx1.hel.elisa-laajakaista.fi… -
Re: Combining ND Filters
Do you need 10 stops?? Be aware that it is difficult to even see through a 10 stop filter, or focus sometimes in less than bright sunlight with a fast lens. With a slow lens - say f5.6, AF may not work at all. Just a thought. Fliter House shows 82mm Hoya ND filters in ND2, ND4 and ND8. B&H Photo lists three pages of 82mm… -
