Are there any plans to share the original 1080p version anytime? The SmugMug version is higher res but more compressed than the Canon version and I'd love to see what this camera really is capable of...

    Wow. :jawdrop that's it really.

Well done Smugmug for getting involved thumb.gif

Presumably at some point, these cameras will be so powerful, we won't have to worry about missing the perfect moment to capture an image, you just film your scene and then extract the best frame, scary.

That was a smart move, I called 5 retailers in Germany they
all have waiting lists with well over 30 to 50 people on it. Two
retailers already ordered additional palettes from Canon, and
most couldn't say know how many cameras Canon would send
with the first delivery to their stores. This is crazy. If you want
one order it before the all those video guys join this frenzy toomwink.gif

So cool. I've watched Reverie at least 10 times now.

Can I ask a dumb question: what is so much more hype-worthy about this 5D than Nikon's D90? I'm really not trying to start anything, I just want to know. Is it the low-light capability and just general image quality from the full-frame 5D sensor? Clearly 1080HD beats Nikon's 720HD, I know that.

Or, is it simply that Canon was smart enough to leak this product to someone like Vince? In other words, had Nikon been smarter, since the D90's actually available already, they would have taken a share of this "industry changing" hype sooner?

Or, am I missing something else?

    Again, super-impressed, just curious. :D

The D90 makes yelly-video (when panning) and is not as clean at ISO3200 for what I know.

Baldy, I just created a Yahoo! Buzz article as well, so go out there and vote:

(Buzz has WAY more traffic, but perhaps not as targeted as Digg)

Wow! Really cool. The shallow DOF of the blue eye clip and the shot (albeit well lit) of the woman in the red dress are just stunning.

There was one shot (I think of the guy on the rail of the helicopter) where it was up close, shallow DOF and you could watch the focus point shift in and out. That alone is worth it.

Of course I would have to get that 400 f/2.8 I want to make this thing scream.

It is so funny, how every where you looked about 4 months ago when rumors of video on cameras were being talked about, everyone hated the idea... "big P & S cameras" everyone said and how dumb it would be...now with the release of the new 5D...everyone is in love with the idea!?

Just funny how it all works out....
