The praying mantis one was great! Do you get them very often where you found it? (They're around here some, but pretty rarely do you actually see them.)

It would have been five but there are no pics of me in there
Oh, goodness, you're right! How could I forget to include the gallant knight who helped me down from trees, prevented me from falling down cliffs, and helped stop my stumbles before I could break an ankle? Gross oversight on my part, Charlie. Allow me to rectify that immediately
And thank you, diva. I'm glad the junior critic loved the kitties.
Really stunning set, Kevin. Where are you finding these things? (I see you aren't too far from me. )
And I'm so jealous about your Ireland trip. I studied abroad in Galway back in college, and we had the weekends to ourselves. My first real travel adventures on my own were during those weekends. Your trip makes me want to go back even more. Only country I've been to where I stepped off the plane and immediately felt I was home.

Thanks Nate! They are around, but as you said you rarely see them...this one was actually on one of our sliding glass doors, I don't really "do" bugs, so I had my oldest son move him to the flowers for me! This little guy was the greatest model! I took pics from all different views, and his little head followed me everywhere I went as though he was posing for the camera! Glad you liked it!

Welp, I did it last year; no sense in not doing it this year: Best of 2008
Before anyone thinks I'm overly vain, 2008 was my photo-a-day project year. That's why there're so many SPs in there.
I am in awe, that's all I can say...in awe! I can't really pick a favorite, but I do really like the lighthouse on the first page (I think #9), just awesome
Some day I hope to be able to travel to far away beautiful places, but for now I will just admire them thru everyone elses images!

And thank you, Karin. I've tried to make it a habit to get out of the country every summer, but this year is looking iffy, which saddens me so. :cry (Unless pyry can put me up for a week. )
And thank you for the jawdrop. That's so sweet. I loved going through your gallery and recalling your images. And I was definitely fond of those kitten shots (not just for the squee! factor--that's some sweet light and focus there).

rofl Thanks Kerry, but I think photoshopping all of my hair out of the image was a little harsh, nice highlight on the slap though

Thanks! I remember shooting those kitties well. I spotted them hiding from the sun after my show jumping lesson (made a hash of that) and proceeded to utterly confuse them with the camera. The people there, including the stable master, didn't quite get the taking pictures of kittens part - they put me down as 'clearly a city boy' for it
Cooking, did somebody say cooking? Mmmm... (in fact, yesterday's "make me feel better shooting session" was very nearly a session of pictures of chicken tikka skewers marinating, but I didn't get the meat defrosted in time to both shoot and cook!)
Kerry, we'll have to have descend en masse somewhere for a dgrin COOKOUT!!! (Finland, anybody?!)

Those kittens are very lovely (insert KITTY! for full effect Kerry, you and my daughter have corrupted me for life, as I will now never be able to see a cat - live or photographed - without seeing that word!) Of course the barn folks were amused because at a barn cats have only one purpose: to hate them meeces to pieces! Cute? Nah - they're meant to be ferocious hunters.....
Thanks Pyry! I was playing with my new (at that time) telephoto/macro lens at the zoo just to see what it would do and didn't realize what I had captured until I got home.
I enjoyed seeing what else you were shooting last year besides your challenge entries. The scarlet bird image is particularly lovely and graphically so strong.

Thanks Kerry! Ireland was a blast. Even though I was on my own, I had a great feeling (comfort?) inside also while I was there.

Diva, even if not a cookout, we need to get together for some kind of shooting at some point.
