I once sat (well, three times, to be honest) in my car in front of a fire hydrant in the middle of the day trying to get the correct exposure to blur the traffic rushing down the road.
Wouldn't it be cool if you had a fire hydrant nearby and got a speeding fire truck in front of it???
I'm glad you aren't bothered by all the noise of a fire house across the street :
MMM...wheeels turning, trying to think where a hydrant might be that i could make that happen, if not here then down at Station 28 (Which is on my list to shoot anyway, it's a small classic house built in I think 1912 and is next on the list to be rebuilt. Thanks for the Idea, I will have to see what I can do about it when I get my health back.
The Fire house has been quet the last couple of hours, they were running pretty hard earlier though.
Glad you are enjoying them!

And Now for Something Different
Here is my wife Dawn at the Friendship Firehouse in Alexandira VA. (I'm not going to say how much talking to took to get the helmet on)

The attempt that failed
Engine 31 backing in at 1:30 am. I wanted to get the spinning roto-ray light as they left but the head lights washed out a large part of the photo. This was plan "B", off to the side and a last second move which caught part of a parked car, it has a effect but not just what I was looking for, but I still sort of like it.
Oh well, got to have some goals and long term projects!
Bed time for me, hope you enjoyed!

Anyone in for a smaller one than this BMW C1 firetruck bike?
Sure. There are several examples of Paramedic services (which in some places
in the US are a part of the Fire Service where as others, they are a part of a
private contract to the county).
The State of Florida uses an RT for their service. This works pretty well for
the long, narrow and very limited access higways that serve the Florida
Keyes.
Nice shot BTW.

these engines get beat running down town and are replaced about every three years. Here's the Presidental seal the Engine has.
Wow Cota
Those are neat. I especially like the presidential seal. Certainly not something I'd ordinarily see, you have to be in the District to see that. I'll make sure CJ sees this, because seeing that seal on the truck is really something! Thanks for remembering and for posting.
Thanks Nightshadow!
That's quite a photo series... a burning fuel truck... that's no fun at all. Hope the fire was extinguished without any harm to anyone. Thanks for posting!
I have literaly hundreds of Fire Aparatus/Appliances (Same thing just depends what side of the world you live on, Apparatus = Northern Hemisphere, Appliance = Southern Hemisphere) on my website, There is nothing gory or rude on there to need to censor so you can let him loose on there, Link is http://nsw-emergency-pics.fotopic.net if he has any questions or requests about Sydney Australias Fire Brigades he can feel free to send them direct to my inbox at: ialfd11@gmail.com and i will reply as soon as i can. I'm a little late to the party, but here's a fire truck I stumbled upon while waiting for a friend. The guys were all eating lunch except for the poor schmoe who drew the short straw. I later saw him walking out of Vons with a cart full of groceries. I hope his buddies at least picked him up a sandwich!

Feb 2005, the spinning Roto Ray in the center of this poor photo was the motivation on the "Artsy" attempt below

It's interesting to see how much is the same from country to country as well as the differences. Great set of photos! Thanks for posting these.
