Where was this taken???? I'm so happy with the response this thread has gotten, and CJ is always so appreciative when he sees new additions. I can't believe he'll be five this January!
Fire Truck - Port Hope Ontario Fire Dept.
Picture was taken at Santa Claus Parade on Saturday December 3rd 2005.
You got a nice clear shot of the truck. Not always an easy thing to do in a parade.
Our town doesn't have a parade like this! We have a Fog Fest to celebrate the disappearance of the summer fog (supposedly) but no Santa parade.
CJ has seen quite a few parades with fire trucks in them. They have one every year called the "burn relay."
<<Annual Burn Relay. Each year, the Burn Relay starts in San Jose and ends in San Francisco. It stops in each community along the way to receive contributions from the firefighter associations whose donations go toward supporting the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to burn prevention, education and assistance to burn survivors. The primary benefactor is the “Champ Camp” which is a summer camp for burn survivors. Some of our own Palo Alto Firefighters have served as volunteer counselors at the “Champ Camp.”>>

Thank you for the comments Dee.
Port Hope Ontario is also home to the Canadian Fire Fighters Museum. I did manage to find a link!:):
I love the lighting in that photo! And that spiral staircase is neat! Thank you so much for posting. CJ looked at the other pictures of the firehouse and liked them too.
Firemen at work and in action, that can be difficult to catch. I just watched Backdraft the other night -- I sure hope that's over dramatized!
My daughter and husband were caught in the same traffic jam heading south on IS 280. A car flipped over and caught on fire. Rayna wished she had had her camera with her so she could have gotten pictures of the fire trucks! I don't know why she didn't take a few with her cell phone :
Every time we tell CJ we see a fire truck on the road he expects us to take a picture of it, and sometimes I have to tell him the fire truck was going too fast for us to catch up with it...
Thank You
We've been looking for Santa and fire truck images for CJ, so this is a welcome addition to this thread. The local fire trucks brought Santa to CJ's downtown area a couple of weeks ago and he really enjoyed it. It's nice the fire department does this for the children (and big children!).
I think interesting neighborhood is an understatement!
I love the shots of the firemen you caught! Really great street candids! Thank you so much for posting!
I just wish I had taken that shot a millisecond later. I thought I was taking a picture of a smoking manhole when my brain sent the message to click to my finger. In the next frame you can see us all collectively wetting ourselves!

We had yellow firetrucks where I grew up in NY, but unfortunately only red ones here in SF.
I like the yellow ones best too!
cheers!

Ah, another east coast transplant?
What an interesting gallery you have, I know CJ's going to love it when I show it to him on Friday.

Yup, another transplant. Grew up in Bellport, LI. A little beach town out east on the south shore. I've been in San Francisco for nearly 12 years.
The surfing is much better here. But the ocean never ever gets warm.
cheers!
