TriPhotography, I like 1 & 4 of your first group! All good stuff but I'm particularly drawn to those subjects.

This thread inspired me to do my first HDR - it's my first try.. so no laughing rolleyes1.gif - I did two exposures 1 ev difference and then downloaded photmatix pro (took me a minute to "clean" the watermarks) and this is what i ended up with. I think this is something that i wouldn't use all the time.. but def think it's worth purchasing the software for those shots that seem to be made for it ne_nau.gif (not this shot of course mwink.gif

    Thank you very much!

I have same this shot but a bit little change in composition and i won with that shot [in B&W] in a photography award as nominated, this shot of Milford Sound is my best ever shot in my life i can say after my Lighthouse from Scotland, and honestly i don't like the HDR result of it but the beauty of the place making even fake HDR looking good.

This is good start, you will do better for sure if you keep doing, but i hope you can watch your exposure more as i can see some overexposed spots such as on the tree flowers and the ground in front of the garage, will not say that make a big mistake, i have same problem sometimes but if HDR can't solve that or fix this issue then what is the meaning of HDR.

wow.. the detail on those last few are really cool thumb.gif.. what increment do you change the ev ? and how many shots on average? these were my second try, this is 3 exposures with -1 0 +1 (sorry about the watermark, i just did the demo for the software).

    #1
    859994474_nieAP-L.jpg

    #2 - I like this one, I think I stayed within a reasonable threshold ne_nau.gif859994253_BrVkQ-L.jpg

    any better on these ?

    Hey Devin,

Good shots, i like #1 shot, and the second looks natural neutral and doesn't look much as HDR, and believe me if it is not water marked then i may say it is not HDR, and you better on the second series than first one.

That first pic is a good example of the biggest issue with Photomatix -- it creates halos around dark objects. I struggle with this constantly! You can eliminate them though by reducing strength and/or increasing "smoothing." give it a shot and see how it goes.

True, with experiment and some adjustments we may reduce this issue.

Made a trip to 2 places to snap some photos this past weekend.

First up, the local antique shop where the past meets the present:

Then stopped by Lizzie Borden's house. This here is Lizzie's bed room:

Here are some shots I took last weekend. First is at Fort Funston, second is from Treasure Island. I pushed the colors more on these than I usually do with Topaz Adjust. Let me know if you think it's too much :D

I am using Photomatix Pro to produce the HDR and tonemapping. Then tweak with Camera Raw and finish it off with PS.
