Actually when I saw the challenge I immediately thought about a photo I took of a banana tree flower, which many people have commented that this flower photograph reminded them of the erotic flower photos from Georgia O'Keeffe - which you can see at http://www.okeeffemuseum.org
All I can add is that it is one of my most viewed photos on my smugmug and Flickr accounts.
Nice photo, I immediately thought of Georgia O'Keefe as well. Having lived in NM a few years ago and been to the museum several times, she is an artist I admire. The last time I went to the museum, they had the Ansel Adams/O'Keefe exibit up, so I've thought of his work too.
Quick question... kinda. How much room for interpretation on the rule do I have? Say... can I study an artist's work, who was not primarily a photographer, yet was inspired by certain photagraphers, and emulate their non-photography work?

The goal is to study a photograph and emulate the style (and learn something in the process), so I'm going to say no to emulating non-photography work. However, the artist does not have to be solely a photographer. They just need to have photography in their portfolio, so to speak, that you'd like to attempt. Maybe we'll have a broader artist challenge in the future, but for now, stick to photos.

I just couldn't resist this - Monty python challenge :-). Taken tonight 11pm. My wife gave me a strange look as if I'm nuts, but she went to sleep before I could explain :-)

Yeah, lesson learned. I'm never pairing you and pemmett—er, "Gumby"—together as judges ever again.
...hmmm...I guess I will have to read back to where he got the nickname "Gumby". (it use to be mine in HS because of my last name). I haven't heard that name in years!:D

You should frame this one and hang it in the bedroom :giggle
I like for example to take travel and street photography, which is mostly about instances
- moments that cannot be duplicated even if I try to re-do my own image taken a day before...
This is not like studio photography where we can arrange objects, adjust light,
play with composition, etc...
The question is: do we have to emulate a specific photo, or can we just emulate the style of a
photographer we admire?

It's more about the style, not a specific photo (which is certainly okay, too). I can think of several street shooters it would be interesting to emulate, including their approaches to street photography.
