    We really want your comments, and requests, too. Thanks and we hope you love it!

    Thank You very much for this EZC!wings.gif I didn't see anyone ask over the course of the last few days, but if and when new features are added to EZC, where will an announcement be posted?

    Also in the customizable Navbar I didn't see an option for a link to the shopping cart, will that be added at some point?

    Again Thanks Much and keep up the good work!

    You'll want to subscribe to our Release Notes blog, so that you don't miss a single update from SmugMug :)http://blogs.smugmug.com/release-notes/ at the bottom, there's a link for Entries (RSS) - put that in your favorite feed reader.

    Also in the customizable Navbar I didn't see an option for a link to the shopping cart, will that be added at some point?

    You can easily add it

    I am one of the ones who have bitched and moaned about this, so THANK YOU GUYS! bowdown.gifwings.giflust And also a couple of extra special kudos for beating Zenfolio at their own game! mwink.gif

    I've only tinkered for a little bit now but the feature seems awesome, but still with some room for improvement. More fonts, ability to control font size, the slideshow module Andy was hinting...

    Again iloveyou.gif

    Updates May 8, 2009:

    If you make a change to background color, page title, show smugmug header/footer in CoBrand, the change will also show up in EZC. This prevents the EZC from overwriting a change you made in CoBrand.

    Added the ability to choose Feeds on/off if showing no footer (pro only).

    Added Help link to mini footer and make it configurable.

    Added the No Footer option to Advanced Site-wide Customizing for Pros only.

    Removed "Powered by SmugMug" From the page title for Pros, when you use a custom page title.

    clap.gif
    Updated Help Pages:

    http://www.smugmug.com/help/create-photo-album2 (pro)
    http://www.smugmug.com/help/create-photo-album (power)

    http://www.smugmug.com/help/custom-colors2 (pro)
    http://www.smugmug.com/help/custom-colors (power)

    And the basic FAQ got updated, too: http://smugmug.com/help/customize-faq

    More coming but these were the really important help pages to get fixed. :smo

    Awesome stuff here!

    Andy, will you implement the "show feeds" in the advanced customization menu as well? Right now I'm just using css to hide the footer and bump up the feeds link.

    I'm sure all the pros are happy about dropping SmugMug from their titles.

    Nice work, guys and gals! :)

    The theme you have set . . . may be affecting your customization.
    When I enter Easy Customizer, I get the following message:

    "The theme you have set for your homepage may be affecting your customization"

    or when I select a gallery:

    "The theme you have set for this gallery may be affecting your customization"

    I tried different themes for my homepage, but still the same message. Should I ignore it and continue with Easy Customizer or ?

    Thanks

    Thanks Andy,

    I had done that, but the message kept appearing. HOWEVER, after your reply I decided to empty my browser cache and then set my theme to Default again. That did the trick.

    Aaaaaaarrrrrgggggghghhhh!!!!!!!
    WARNING, DO NOT USE THIS IF YOU HAVE ALREADY CUSTOMISED YOUR SITE>

    Dear Smugmug,

    I have spent literally hundreds of hours getting my site exactly as I wanted it. Having saved my CSS just in case something went wrong, I went on "easy customiser" to try and change my page titles to help with google searching and now find that not only did that not work, but my site now has borders where I don't want them, back ground colors that I don't want and text size that isn't as it was before.

    WHAT THE F%$KS GOING ON!!!!???!!?!??!

    I've copied back my presaved CSS and it hasn't worked!!!!!

    Sort it please NOW!!!

    EDIT: It seems when I try to put my previous CSS back in it's being over ridden by "easy customisation" so the CSS is correct, I just need you to switch off whatever it is that's overiding my original settings! I wish I'd never seen this damn thread.

    There is a start over button that (apparently) wipes out the changes made by the easy customizer. See Andy's screen shot here - http://www.dgrin.com/showpost.php?p=1101344&postcount=43.

    Yes thanks,

    Have to say you probably should put some sort of health warning in large bold capital letters on the first post in this thread. I was practically in tears at the thought of all my efforts dissapearing down the drain.

    Perhaps I over-reacted, and as usual your team were on the ball with a solution quickly. So thanks for that.

    One thing puzzles me though, the easy customisation looks like it's the answer for most, but does it still allow you to fine tune with CSS? For instance, whilst trying to get my site looking like it used to (before finding the nuke button), I tried changing the font size in CSS and it just wouldn't budge, not even using the !important addition.

    From my point of view, I like Smugmug because I'm a perfectionist and want to customise everything. It seems like you lose some control using EC.

    This tool wasn't made for you :D It was made for hundreds of thousands that don't know CSS, never will, don't want to use the Advanced Site-wide customizing. I'm glad you tried it though, and many thanks for the feedback!

    Help
    I tried the Easy Customizer before I read this and have totally destroyed my site. I went through it and saw the option to add a favicon on the browser bar. I did that and saw the warning, but figured that that was the only thing that would change. I did the change and now the site is so messed up that I can't get to the control panel to change any thing, log in/out, or change anything. Help.
    After writing this, I saw the posts about the START OVER Button, but I can't get to that either. Can you restore my site from your backups or push the START OVER button from your side?

    It's 11:22 (:17 after your reply) and it's not there. Also if I had it, what can I do? I can't find the login link to log in. I can't see the Tools drop down to get to the control panel. Oddly enough, the favicon which had appeared is now replaced with the standard SM icon, but every thing else is screwed up.

    Thanks, that worked. When you're in a panic, you don't think too clearly. Have not received any email with customizing, but maybe later I can come back and do it manually if I don't get it.
    Looking back, it looks as if there is some of my code under customization on the control panel, but for some reason, the site is not back to where it was. I need to leave, but I'll look more this PM.

    1431 Outlook had placed the emailed customization in the Junk folder. I logged on using the trick above and pasted it in. It seems to be OK now, thanks for the help. Now I need to look for the place to insert the favicon code. I'll look, but if anyone knows off hand I'd appreciate a clue. I'm absolutely going to stay away from the "Easy" Customizer.

    When logged into your site, select Themes in the top menu bar, then select "Revert to Default". You do this for your homepage and to any albums you want to change the theme.

    need help with EC
    Love, love, love the EC. Thank you, this was a much needed feature for non-techie types as myself. I tried customizing before EC and had completely given up out of frustration. I was resigned to having a crappy site and found myself avoiding the site altogether. This new feature fills me with hope that I will finally get it to look the way I want and not due to lack of help on your part but due to lack of knowledge on my part.

    I have two accounts here: one personal (power) http://edalisse.smugmug.com/
    and the more important one is pro. http://www.carolinapixel.com/

    I tested the EC on my power and would like to mimic aspects of that customization on my pro account.....

    1- Before the customization my homepage http://www.carolinapixel.com was my slideshow page, and my http://www.carolinapixel.com/galleries displayed galleries without the slideshow. Now both homepage and galleries page displays the slideshow. How can I delete the slideshow from the galleries page?

    2- How do I get rid of the red boxes on this page : http://www.carolinapixel.com/Pets ? and black boxes my homepage : http://www.carolinapixel.com ? and make t look more like this http://edalisse.smugmug.com/

    Thanks for your help

    Add this to your Bottom JavaScript box:

    function hasPath(sPath)
    {
    re = new RegExp("\/" + sPath + "(\/|$)");
    return re.test(window.location)
    }

    if (hasPath("galleries"))
    YD.addClass(document.body, "galleries");

    And add this to your CSS box:

    .homepage #galleriesBox,
    .homepage #categoriesBox,
    .homepage #featuredBox {
    display: none;
    }

    .galleries #bioBox {
    display: none;
    }

    .galleries #galleriesBox,
    .galleries #categoriesBox,
    .galleries #featuredBox {
    display: block;
    }

    That will make the separate galleries page so that you have a homepage with a slideshow, and a galleries page with galleries.

    Try changing your theme to default; what you have chosen now may be affecting how the boxes look. If you change to default and it doesn't help, holler back. :)
