I love this guy! Can I take him home???
Well, he's not mine to give. It's the dog of friends we visited in the US a few years ago. It was indeed a wonderful kind and playful boy but they didn't want to part with him.

It's been 3 days since the last post on the perpetual shapes and color challenge thread - it feels like this thread is stuck!

The Never Ending... Jan-15-2016 12:38 PM Why do you always have to post the next pic? Let others participate more often.

I saw this a few days ago in my User Control Panel -> Latest Reputation Received

I'm not sure what is it about, because the rules of the "The Never Ending Alphabet Game Challenge!" don't mention about how often we can post...

I actually thought that posting as often as we can is good for the health of this (any) thread, but it appears that it's not eek7.gif

I feel like I have to apologize to everybody here.

I slowed down and I may be finally out - too bad, because I used to love these challenges

Anyway it's nice to see that somebody loves me here mwink.gif

I've never seen a rule like that - and I like your posts! Please don't back off and go away; you are helping to keep this place alive.

You don't owe anyone an apology. I think the person who sent you the message owes you an apology.

Thank you very much Denise - this relieved a little the sorrow in my chest...

Actually the "Admin" had a comment saying that "This is somehow negative" - I see that removed now,
but I still have a Red Dot on my reputation :cry

I just added to your reputation and I am seeing 2 green dots now. (Ah, I think you meant in your control panel, not public.)
The reputation system seems a bit odd. I can't imagine how it would be showing red for you given your contributions here.

And again, please don't disappear!

Hi Denise, I'm seeing 2 green dots now too iloveyou.gif how's that??? Wow, thank you :D

I wouldn't disappear - I was just very sad, because of some people's behaviors...

I figured that out after I looked at my control panel and saw a comment with a gray dot.

It's funny, I don't often post photos other than in the challenges threads. Sometimes it's good to get comments but I have a different outlook than many others and don't always agree with the comments. I enjoy sharing in the challenge threads though; it usually feels very supportive.

I agree with the other commenters here, don't leave and as far as I'm concerned anyone can post as often as they want or can. For me it's part of the fun to see as many pictures of others from places I've never seen, or places I've been but then through other eyes. Btw, didn't know anything about this reputation panel, need to look into that and see how many people think I post too much as well :ivar

Great comment Pegelli, thank you very much :)

I too enjoy seeing as many photos of others of: places I haven't seen or, same places I've seen, but viewed with other eyes - it's so nice!

About the reputation I never cared about - I mean to check for it in the whatever it's called... ne_nau.gif
I just saw it accidentally and it was the comment that really upset me, especially that as I mentioned, the admin said that this was "somehow negative"... it was like I got hit in my stomach :puke...

BTW: I was wondering if you received a similar comment as well rolleyes1.gif

Thank you!

Your telephoto would have been powerful enough here. I was on Machias Seal Island (in the Gulf of Maine) which I believe is still a disputed territory between the US and Canada. The boat I took is no longer running but there is one running out of Maine - http://www.boldcoast.com/. At the time I went there were only 2 or 3 boats allowed to land on the island. There might be one out of New Brunswick, I'm not sure.
Ah, I found the company from Canada that is allowed to land on the island, http://www.seawatchtours.com/puffins-and-machias-seal-island.html.

They allow only a small number of people to land on the island. We were walked to blinds and left for a specified amount of time. When it was time to leave someone on the staff on the island escorted us from the blinds back to the boat.

Ha, what an interesting story... you were lucky! :)

I was on Bird Island, NS but it was already late - they were leaving the ground and went to the water. The tour boat didn't go close enough to them - I even didn't know they were so small!! :)
- all the photos show close-ups and I thought they were something like a penguin <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/rolleyes1.gif" border="0" alt="" >

This is what I was able to take :)

You're right, I was lucky. Seriously, if you ever plan a trip near the Gulf of Maine (in either Maine or New Brunswick) during the summer, taking one of the boats that is allowed to land on the island is well worth it!

Another option is Iceland, not only for puffins but the rest of the nature is spectacular over there as well.

This one was shot with a 210 mm lens on APS-C, so your 200 mm should do the trick there wings.gif

I know... the signature appears on all photos and when they are cropped or the main element is on the bottom this is an inconvenience... rolleyes1.gif

I was amazed how good this shot turned out - I was walking in the streets of Bremerhaven and saw this one coming, from far...
I had my telephoto on for architectural details, so it was easy to follow it coming down the street and shoot :)wings.gif

That is a very interesting structure. The squares look like glass blocks, do you know the purpose of the rectangle / circles? Is it just decorative?

The squares are indeed glass blocks. It's the outside wall of a doctor's practice (inside is the waiting room). The rectangle is just decoration, and may be needed to to hold the two circles that are windows.

Denise, this must be the "new" artists building at Fogo Island... we were there when they were discussing about building it, but never seen it done... Nice shot and perspective, but in my opinion, this building doesn't really belong in that environment... at least this is what we thought without seeing it...

This is Tower Studio, photo is from August 2011.

None of the buildings in that project fit with the environment but I think that's what makes them special. I enjoyed the anomoly. The buildings are all quite stark, as is Fogo Island.

I saw it in the alphabet challenge now, as well :) We were there in 2010.

Good point about being special - yes, it's intriguing :)

In fact this is also the case of the "Rooms" building in St.Johns, NFL - many didn't like it but I did :)
