This bird was living in a butterfly conservatory here in Massachusetts. It was quite happy to pose for me.

The trick on resizing photos from smug is to change the first size in the URL.
Change this:

photos.smugmug.com/GardensFlowersThings/On-the-wings-of-butterflies/i-SMbFLhV/0/X2/201402_7D_9745L-X2.jpg

to this:

photos.smugmug.com/GardensFlowersThings/On-the-wings-of-butterflies/i-SMbFLhV/0/250x250/201402_7D_9745L-X2.jpg

No, it was very alive and not injured, just a live toy that got away later after the cats got bored with it. Was just a common brown snake (garter, rat or ring neck) caught napping in the sawdust. Haven't seen it since!

To quote something from another thread, I click Reply on the post I want to use. I copy the quote, then I come to this discussion thread and do a reply to the thread. I paste in the copied quote, then add my comments. If the photo is from SmugMug then I usually also change the size of the photo by editing the URL. For example, in my dog post, the URL in the quote would be:

https://photos.smugmug.com/On-paws-and-wings/Welcome-Baxter/i-ktFRhcf/0/X2/201510_XT1_3529L-X2.jpg

If you change the size indicator between the slashes (highlighted above) to either a new size indicator or to a custom size, the photo in your quote will be smaller:

https://photos.smugmug.com/On-paws-and-wings/Welcome-Baxter/i-ktFRhcf/0/250x250/201510_XT1_3529L-X2.jpg
