My site is a work in progress, but the link in my signature is what I have so far.

I am torn as to a slideshow in the homepage, or just a single photo...

Single photo looks awesome Harm. Don't change anything on the front page! :)

    No search option though? intentional?

getting a couple of errors - both your 'contact me' image and your guestbook image are showing as broken for me - this is normally because they're taken from password protected galleries.

Nicely laid out site. I like three categories on the homepage. When I used to give presentation, I always concentrating on making sure my audience took away three things. Keeping simple I think is a great way to do it.

+1 Absolutely. A lot of sites (not just here) are way too cluttered for my taste. A photography site is about showing the images with a small amount of text info about the photographer, contact details etc. The images shoul speak for themselves. Business sites need more info, but it can be done minimally. If I see a really cluttered site I think it's a reflection of the person who created it, and I am rarely impressed.

Mine is very simple. I put a lot of work and stuff in the old legacy site, just decided to run the basic thing here. ;)

Here's my site so far. As mentioned above when you click on a pic from my homepage it should go to gallery, but it goes to full screen instead. It's been very "interesting" getting the site to this point, but I'm getting happier each time I make another modification.

    Thanks

I would make the top banner thinner, it takes up too much space. I like the layout.

    Nice site, and the images!

Your contact form has the wrong title for the top boxes. It should be 'name'. http://acceleratedlightphotography.wufoo.com/forms/m7x3p9/

Whoops, thanks for pointing that out!

Changed mine slightly so it works better on a tablet and added hover/transition effects to the navbar and social buttons.
I'm 99% happy with my site now... The final 1% would be random order for the homepage images or the option for a fullscreen slideshow.

This happened on our Chromebook too... i am not sure what to do about it though. Obviously the photos are there. I am guessing this is just SmugMug having issues? ne_nau.gif

I'm guessing its the social icons that are doing it.. go to customise and make sure whole site is selected, then you should get a triangle icon when yo hover over that box. That will allow you to set the margins. Reduce top and bottom settings if you can....

Hello, my website is below, I used the Template Zoe..... I wanted my website to be nice and clean plus easy to navigate for people, nothing too busy also I wanted the layout to look well on phones or tablets. So I edited the template Zoe a bit, also used smugmugs contact me form. My older smugmug site was all black, I went with white this time and love the new smugmug look.

    http://www.lamontphotography.com/

Love this. How did you get the click-through on the images on the front page (rather than an auto slideshow as such)? Been messing around wiht various templates and haven't been able to get any of them to do this yet (probably my mistake not theirs, but so far.... no good :( )

That did make it smaller but it shrunk things just a bit. Does it look better?

Thank you!!! On my homepage settings once I placed a slideshow there I clicked the settings icon and there you have a Controls tab and setting you want will be there.

So, do you embed the slideshow as a separate unit from somewhere else, as it were (presumably that's in the equivalent of "share"?). I've only been playing with the new system for a day, so apologies for getting-up-to-speed questions! thumb.gif

Ok, thanks again digital pins - I see how it's done. My photos aren't consistent aspect ratios, so I may abandon ship on a slideshow, but it looks great on yours!

At the moment, I'm still twiddling, currently using Duke; this is a bit penny plain, but it coordinates with my logo and blog (which is where my domain is pointed). Now that SM is so much snazzier, I may well point the domain to the smug site and just have the blog be the standalone page instead of the other way around....

Much work still to be done, but I do like the collage front page and the MUCH better looking (and easier to create) navbars :) I kinda like having black bg around the photos themselves too; keep switching between Duke's native color and the white duotone. :)

Hi I made a unlisted gallery on my website just for my homepage slideshow.... picking a few images from my photos placed copies in that unlisted gallery. Then named that gallery slideshow (just easier for me to find it) once I was on the customization part of my site and I dragged the slideshow button on my homepage I selected that gallery I made.

    I hope that helps.
