    Hello,

My name is Ryan Dickerson, and I am new here. I shoot Pentax. Gotta love the weather sealing, build quality, and SR of the K10D. Anyways, here is a (sorry) self portrait taken right after I bought my camera. It's not very good, but its all I have...

    Hi everybody,

last week I finally made the decision to migrate from flickr (for to many reasons to discus here).

So after uploading 10% of my active archive and messing a bit around with the
    layout / dropdown menu / photostream / keywords / ...
I found it time to introduce myself.

So I'm Ronny Hermans, live in Belgium/Antwerp and play around with pentax stuff.
    (k10d/k20d and some lenses, oldest=35years, youngest=1year)

Self portrait instructions for a newbie
    Hi Everyone,

I'm semi retired living in Northern California so I have plenty of things to take pictures of. I can't really say what Catagory I prefer but as I learn more about photography I'm sure I will find my niche. I shoot with a Nikon D300 most of the time. This post is my first and I'm trying to figure out how to put my self portrait up so you know who I am. I forgot to mention that I am slightly technically challenged with forums, blogs and other new things.

    Thanks for your support!

    Linda

    Hello from NJ
    455386847_WwdNN-XL.jpg

I live in NJ and am retired from the USN. I travel in my current job and have been inspired to get back into photography after watching my son enjoy the life of a serious shutterbug. I always have my Canon G-9 or my A-700 with me.

Had to comment love it. I love the grainy look too. I remember learning a photoshop tip for making a image look as if it was shot with infrared film... this reminds me of that. (been so long I lost the notes) Awesome though.

My name is Jenny , and i shoot with a Nikon d300.
My main focus is Music festivals, Concerts, ect.

I am completely lost on smug mug, as i am PC, forums, and internet illiterate.

    Hello out there
I have been out of photography for a long time and other than a Pentax P&S I have not used a digital camera. I have just purchased an Olympus E-520 with two kit lenses and have just ordered a Zuiko 50mm F2.0 Macro lens. My intention is to focus (pun intended) on portraits.

I included this self-portrait. First time that I have ever tried to take my own picture.

I'm not the cute blonde reflected in the bumper, nor am I the bug. By process of elimination, I guess that leaves the head and pudgy arms floating over the flash. :)

My wife and I both grew up in houses with darkrooms and while neither of us ever took advantage of that amazing opportunity when we could have, we're both starting to drift back toward amateur photography as a hobby. We've always had point and shoots laying around, but we really missed the flexibility we had with our film SLR's. One thing led to another, and a couple years ago we picked up a Nikon D50. While admittedly not a highly advanced DSLR, it was a good choice for us at our experience level and budget, and was very liberating when compared to our point and shooters. I kind of liken it to my Pentax K1000. Great to learn on, but sometimes very frustrating because of it's limitations. We're still learning, and still making more mistakes than successes, but we're having a blast doing it, and that's what counts right now.

My name is Maria and I have been with 'dgrin' since last year. I should have introduced myself a lot sooner but I was waiting for the right mug shot, which today I managed to get. We have recently cleared out our garden shed and found a big round, glass table top which is leaning against the wall at the back. While I was out in the garden today, I noticed my reflection in it and thought it would make a nice shot. I quite like the obscurity of it and it doesn't show my 'impurities' either.
I have been taking digital photographs for 2 years now and still like to class myself as 'Amateur'. My cameras are a Kodak Z710 and a Kodak Z1015 IS. I also have a little tripod but have not used it much. I am very keen and love to go out on excursions, walking and hiking with my cameras of course.
My favourite subject in photography would be Macro because the detail of enlarged images just fascinate me.
    Kind regards, Feline

    Late Intro
Hi! I am Cassidy; and I am a lurker!

Well I was for a good long while, and I finally took the plunge into the world of dgrin. I shoot a Nikon D300 and use various other goodies! I shoot journalistic style portraits mostly, but I am not picky- I'll photograph just about anything! I just love being behind the camera.

I'm Dave, and yet another SmugMug customer, and ADV Rider inmate.

I've gone from studying photography, and being very good at it (~25 years ago), to a lame, ignorant duck, lacking knowledge of the fine art. I've certainly allowed the art to pass me by, but hope to gain some ground visiting the DG forums.

Most of my photography involves wildlife, as to promote my wildlife control business. My shots are of the simple, "full auto" point and shoot variety, but I'm really getting the itch to try taking some "professional quality" images (and upgrading my photo gear).

Balancing these Olympus Stylus cameras on rocks is a tall order. mwink.gif
