I won't sell her a lens, but I can bring my 17-85 and she can shoot it. I was planning on leaving it home, but I'll throw it in the bag.

Please confirm that you want me to bring it.

Wish the message about the ND filter came in many hours ago. We were at several camera stores today and one thing we got were a couple 3 stop ND filters for 77mm. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply. I'll check with Ann in the morning. We would stop and pick up an ND filter but the only photography shop in Banff didn't carry them and we bought the only one in Jasper. I'll reply back here in the morning if she wants you to bring it. But she did clean the contacts on her 17-85 and it looks like it might be all better now.

I can check for you in Kalispell when we land on Monday. Looks like they have a couple options:

    Photo Video Plus
    284 4th Avenue West N
    (406) 752-6708

    First Avenue Camera
    128 13th St E
    (406) 755-4155

And, lastly, I can always order one over night and have it shipped to St Mary's Lodge.

Paying Amazon $43.06 gets a Tiffen 77mm Neutral Density 0.9 Filter in St Mary's on Tuesday.

    http://www.amazon.com/Tiffen-77mm-Neutral-Density-Filter/dp/B00004ZCIC/ref=sr_1_1/105-1723064-0950859

They want $77.02 for the Tiffen 77mm Color Graduated Neutral Density 0.6 Filter

    http://www.amazon.com/Tiffen-Graduated-Neutral-Density-Filter/dp/B00004ZCI2/ref=sr_1_1/105-1723064-0950859

Both prices include 1-day shipping and they are in stock.

Let me know how I can help...Doug

    Thanks everyone -

We are only getting going, and I think we've missed the 10 a.m. timeline. I'll let Christina talk to Doug about the filter options. Looks like I may be okay for a lens. (Thanks DavidTO).

It is pouring rain today, but the forecast starting tomorrow is really good for all southern Alberta and Montana.

Thanks Doug, but I was looking at the Cokin P series holders with the retangular grad NDs. I would have never thought of having them shipped to St. Mary's if you hadn't mentioned it. I found some on ebay that SHOULD get there on time.

    Thank you again,
    Christina

Have a great trip. Wheels up for me at 5PM Monday. I just got this report from Fred W, who I'm meeting up with Tuesday morning. He's been scouting the park since Saturday.

There were some nice sites on Lake McDonald but the Going to the Sun road was closed already at Avalanch Creek (disappointing).
This morning I left the hotel at 6AM and scouted the East Side of the park. It was cold and rainy all day except in the higher elevations of the park it was snowing. Lots of great shooting on the East side. Definately you should bring a winter coat, rain poncho, hiking boots, warm gloves, and warm hat. Try to layer your clothes. A sleeveless winter vest and flannel shirt worked well for me today. I added the poncho during hikes when raining or snowing. During sunrise and sunset it will be cold. It was low 30's in the higher elevations during the whole day today.

Pack warm! EMS has a sale on raingear. You may want to pick some up along with a waterproof pack cover.

    Visited St Mary today !!!
Hi all, Arrived in Kalispell yesterday and checked out the Going-to-the-Sun Road from the West side of Glacier NP. You can drive past Lake McDonald and the road is closed at Avalanche Creek. Today (Sunday) it was either raining or snowing all day so I drove East to St Mary. The roads are fine for cars (SUV's are nice but not necesary for snow). It was about 33 deg F during the day so I recommend layering your clothing and also bring a winter coat, light gloves, and hat.

After getting directions from a couple of old locals I made it to St Mary.

I'm sorry to say but 1st Ave Camera is no longer in business:cry , Photo Video Plus is the only real camera store left in town. I live about fifteen miles away near Columbia Falls. I hope everbody going to the shootout has a great visit.

Well we are well under way. I am getting excited. We made a stop at Teddy Roosevelt NP on the way. There are great fall colors here, how about Glacier?

Starting to see a lot of bright yellow and some reds. Today was cloudy but when the sunshine returns I think it will be impressive.

I hope the weather is better at Glacier. I'm getting ready to leave Yellowstone today headed towards Kalispell and it's grey, gloomy and snowing here.

we had glorious weather yesterday - shot sunrise and sunset and bears, elk, big horn in between.

gale force winds howling today - we are doing laundry in
waterton and will drive out of here around noon.

reports of a grizzly sow with either twins or triplets have me wanting to scoure the park.

the forecast for the week is for good weather.
we have worn long underweaar and toques all week.

    see y'all tomorrow, eh

Sitting at the Kalispell airport with April, Andy and Nikolai waiting for our flights home...

We all had a blast! And finally after a week, we have internet! wings.gif

Pictures coming soon (and lots of them)!

While we were getting our internet fix, Nikolai was busy shooting...

    Andrew!!

We're stuck upstairs by our gate. We boarded on time but then they made us get off the plane due to a ground hold. And there is no food or drink to be had this side of security. :cry

It took us 22 hours to get out to Kalispell from Baltimore, and it looks like it's going to take us that long to get back home.

Still, I had a blast but it's killing me that my laptop sucks for processing photos. :D

Argh! Travel issues for more of us as well. They wanted us to stay over-night in Seattle for those heading to San Jose. We were able to make some creative travel arrangements via different airports and airlines and should be able to laned tonight.

    Wish us luck!

Good luck getting home Shmoo and April. hope you aren't stuck in the airport too long. I had a blast and think I got some decent stuff. I can't wait to see everybodys images. You all better post at least a couple. We're at a hotel in Calgary now. My flight isn't until tomorrow and back to work on Tuesday. It was fun while it lasted.
