    My turn.
    Who are ya?
Portuguese, born in Setubal, fifty many (too many) years old, married to Maria Luisa for quite some time with whom I have one son and one daughter.
    52894581-Th.jpg Mother, me and father - 1956 Rolleicord 6*6

    Where are ya?

I am living in Portugal, Setubal since I was born.

    What do ya do?

I have been an Architect for 29 years now.

    How long shootin?

The first contact with photography comes when I remember my uncle and my father in the "studio" under the stairs at night, when I was 8 or 9.
I remember the first time I went to Paris in the early sixties, that I was shooting with a Rolleicord and a Zeiss Icon light meter. Still own both.
However, I have been quite some years without any photographic activity because of work, children and because I moved to video (a waist).

    Hobbist or Pro?

Hobbist trying to learn all the time.
There is much more to learn that we will ever know.

    What else?
I made my militar service in Timor, where I spoiled 2 years of my youth, before the 25th April. In total I spoiled in militar service more than 3 years and I am sorry for this.
I like to travel and to know other places of the World. This passion comes from the old days when I went to wash up in Arlanda, Oxford Street, Paris, Bali and other places I visited.
I speak very good French, medium English, few words in Spanish and my native language.
All the best ! ... António Correia - Facebook

All time favorite movie - Gone with the Wind.

WHooohooooooo...I have watched this movie SO many times, I actually act out some of the parts, when I watch it again!! Have the DVD too....Wasn't too happy about GWTW Part 2, thought it just didn't add up to the original...

At times I wish, I were Scarlet, now is when I need Vandana's "Wishing Upon a Dandy" ..I wish I May, I wish I might, just be Scarlet for One Night...(It would have to be her standing in the red garments on the stairs..So luscious that scene) lol.... BUT

I would Definently treat Mr. Rhett Butler so differently...Ohhhhh, but I'll worry about that tomorrow, for tomorrow is another day....:D

PS: Glad to see another GWTW fan out there...lol
You're only as good as your next photo....

I actually fell in love with the story while attending commercial photography school. We had an assignment where I had to shoot for a book on Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, where Margaret Mitchell is buried. I read her biography to try and get ideas and was fascinated. From there, of course, I read Gone with the Wind, and finally, watched the movie. I was enthralled by the incredible character development.

It's amazing that I've seen many similarities between the bios here. Lots of differences too, but many common denominators too.

Who are ya? Kelsey Gray. I have been travelling constantly for the last 3 or 4 years and have been living out my vehicle or in a foreign country for a good part of the last year. I don't have a wife or even a girlfreind! But its easier to travel that way as well. No kids either yet. One day maybe. :)

Where are ya? Now I am home in Anchorage, Alaska. Love Alaska.

What do ya do? Teach climbing, go to school, and just about anything I want at any time.

How long shootin? 3 years maybe? Maybe 2. It hasn't been long.

Hobbist or Pro? What would make me a pro? I just love takin photo's.

What else? I'm willing to meet up with anyone and climb, hike, or just enjoy the outdoors. My home is the world and I don't want to miss any of its wonderful rooms.

    Who are ya?
The name is dave. I'm 48 years old, but I read at a 50 year old level.
The good part about being 48 is that I look much older than that, so I have no trouble buying beer.
I've been married for 2 wonderful years. (2 out of 24 isn't that bad)
In the last couple of months, I pasted a landmark in my life. I have now been married longer than I was single.
We have no kids, the US Government asked me not to breed. Something about one like me being one to many.

    Where are ya?
    Minnsota.

    What do ya do?
Construction worker, a pipefitter by trade, and I teach night school welding to our union's apprentices.

    How long shootin?
My first camera was a Polaroid Swinger. (look that one up)

    Hobbist or Pro?
I'm a Hack. It should be illegal to butcher photographs the way I do.

    What else?
    We have 2 dogs.
My wife is a Saint with impeccable taste.:D

    Who are ya?
Cuong Nguyen, 40, been married 17 years. Have a son, 12, and daughter, 9. I was born and raised in Vietnam, then came to the US when I was a teenager as one of the boat people in 1980.

    Where are ya?
A suburb in Southern California called Rowland Heights - 22 miles (35km) east of Downtown Los Angeles.

    What do ya do?
I'm a systems programmer for the IT dept of City of Los Angeles. My group basically develops and supports an in-house web application.

    How long shootin?
I bought my Canon A-1 SLR in the early 80's and took color printing class with the famous Mr. Warren King at Reseda High School. I shot mostly family events, landscapes, and a few weddings. In the 90's I used the compact Pentax IQ-Zoom 90WR more for convenience. I switched to digital in 2003 with the Olympus Digital 300. I just love the convenience of a compact digital camera. They keep getting smaller, better, and cheaper every year. I became addicted to compact digital cameras and acquired several in the last few years.

This past year, my daughter got more serious with her gymnastics training and started to compete. The shutterbug in me came back and I wanted to take pictures of her competitions. Since flash photography is prohibited, my compact cameras are out of commission. Earlier this year, I broke down and bought the Canon 30D and a few lenses to get ready for this year's competition season.

    Hobbyist or Pro?
Definitely a hobbyist. I'm not giving up my day job any time soon. There's still so much to learn in the digital world of photography, especially post processing for me.

    What else?
I have a genetic deficiency called red-green color blindness. Color blindness is a misnomer since I can see colors fine. It's actually a color vision deficiency since I have problems discriminating small differences in hues in the red, orange, yellow, green region of the spectrum. This made it tough in the color printing class. I had to rely on other students or the instructor to tell me if my print had a color cast.

    Who are ya?
Geeze, Im 30 something and still trying to figure this out myself.

    Where are ya?
    Somewhere on the Coastal
    Georgia

    What do ya do?
I’m a full time mom, full time wife, and a full time government employee.

    How long shootin?
I have had cameras for more than 15 years. 12 years ago I got my first film SLR.. but didn’t have a clue how to work the darn thing. Once digital came out, I received one as a gift and have not looked back. I have taken more pictures than I can count. But it was in just the past year or so that I got really interested in making all my shots better. Then I got my Canon Rebel.

    Hobbist or Pro?
Photography is a huge passion for me, but I don’t think I will ever be a pro at it.

    What else?
Well I have traveled a bit as a kid, so I am familiar with other parts of the country as well as some parts in
Europe. I am looking forward to my husband making more money so we can travel to great places together.

    Who are ya?
I'm a lurker, I'm a de-lurker and then I'm a lurker again, so I guess this is a good thread to de-lurk once again. I'm Kim, I'm 24. I love to travel, I love to fly, and I love spending time with all the great friends I've met around the world. Oh and I love being behind a camera :D

    Where are ya?
Currently I'm living in Leeds, England. In a fortnight I hope to be in Barcelona, Spain until Noevember when I have to, after 2 years gone, return home to Brisbane, Australia.

    What do ya do?
At the moment I travel (and work like a dog to pay for it). When I'm at home I'm pursuing my childhood dream and being a pilot.

    How long shootin?
I remember buying my first camera for $3 at a neighbours' garage sale when I was maybe 5. I took a lot of bad photos, although that didn't stop me and I've been addicted to photography ever since. About 10 years ago I aquired my first SLR when I claimed the camera my father spent years of his life saving for as my own ... a Leica M4 naughty.gif . It turned me into a big fan of black and white film photography. Finally I succumbed to the power of the digital world 4 years ago when I bought myself a Canon 300D.

    Hobbist or Pro?
Hobbist.. If I ever learn to take better photos of course I wouldn't object to being pro rolleyes1.gif

    What else?
Um, well that's really about it. Along with all the above I have a huge passion for music and nothing calms me more than just picking up my guitar and playing whatever comes to my head! :D
..Who am I? I'm indecision. I'm everything. I'm nothing. And I may even be both...

No, this is an urban legend. All state flags may fly at the same height as the U.S. flag. The U.S. flag must be on its right (the viewer's left), however. Texas's laws are consistent with those of the other states. See Texas flag code.

    Who I Am...
    Who are ya?
My name is Chrissy. I'm newly 27. I've lived many places and done many things. I've got adventure in my soul - and I can't get it out. I've got a long term boyfriend(no ring yet!) and together we have a fur baby(dog). We found her in the desert of new mexico on one of our many roadtrips and she's been our love ever since!

    Where are ya?
currently in Lititz, PA. Formerly: Kissimmee, FL; Raymond, ME; Baton Rouge, LA; Providence, RI; Bloomsburg, PA; and Allentown, PA (more to come - moving out west next year)

    What do ya do?
I run a small Photography studio, do the occassional wedding. I'm an avid outdoorswoman. I hike, kayak, camp, etc...

    How long shootin?
Since I was 11 and my grandmother gave me her old camera. I have a BFA in chemical photography - and boy do I miss that smell...

    Hobbist or Pro?
    Both

    What Else?
Since leaving the formal education environment of Photography, I've lost the need and desire to expirement and try new things with my talent. I've also lost a lot of what I've learned as far as exposure times, lighting, etc. I've worked commercially for so long I depend on my studio flashes and how easy it is entirely too much, and I've not admitted that before. But I'm looking to get back on track by reading dgrin EVERY day while sitting and babysitting an empty studio. (it's the slow season)...

I am a 31 year old mother of two. My children are half grown 10 and 12, and I don't know if I have the patience for any more so I have begun "collecting" dogs. They are my babies as opposed to my children who are at that age where I am no longer allowed to call them my babies. We have a weimaraner-Diesel, chihuahua-Snuggles, toy poodle-Jennie Bear, And 2 Pit bull puppies-Penelope Rose and Marley Mae. I was divorced from my first husband in 2004 and married the most adorable German in 2005. I work as an office manager/hr director for Tantus games.

Freezing cold Salt Lake City, UT where the week before june it snows!!!rolleyes1.gif

    How long ya been Shootin'?
all my life but only recently have I decided to concentrate on the composition and story behind it. I am really new to digital. I have had my little digital box for a while but am trying to move up in the world, and photoshop is really new so any editing that is done to my digital images is minimal until I learn how to manuver.

    Hobbiest or Pro?
Current hobbiest trying to make it pro. I eat, read, breath, sleep photography. i think it is becomming an obsession.

    What else?
My heart has always been with those things we create to share. The theater, art, etc...but I love teh challenge of passing on the emotion and the feeling behind the photo. Oh yeah my spelling is dreadful so I am apologizing now.

    Who am I?
    Who are ya?<o:p>
</o:p> 1. I am a composite of ghosts. Some serene, some tormented, some laughing, some in terror. All prophetic. I have been assiduously studying the Rosetta of their different languages all my life. They are the negatives behind the positive image you see when you see me. Their black and white signs point you and me this way and that, backwards and forwards, high and low, through all the colors of the rainbow. Can I be held responsible for them? In dreams they become a Hall of Mirrors where you and I discover we are twins.

    2. A very old man sat on the trunk of a fallen tree by the side of a forest path. A very young boy came tripping down the path towards the very old man. Seeing the very old man, the very young boy became curious. He slowed his step and walked quietly up to the very old man. "How old are you?", he asked the very old man. The very old man turned slightly and put out his hand to where a twig on the fallen tree trunk had grown a new, pale green leaf. "How old is this fallen tree?" the old man asked the very young boy in reply, and plucked the new leaf from the twig. On the instant, the very old man disappeared, and the boy found himself holding the leaf he had seen the very old man pluck. As he looked at it he realised both the leaf and his fingers which held it had already begun to wilt.<o:p></o:p>

    Who are ya?

Jeff, a 40 something father of three. Happily married for 22 years next weekend.

    Where are ya?

    Baton Rouge, Louisiana(Geaux Tigers!!!)

    What do ya do?

I am employed by the worlds largest petrochemical corperation, and work in operations. I began doing on location portrait photography for hire a year ago. I chase my kids like a madman.

    How long shootin?

I used to draw and paint...mostly architectural subjects. An uncle lent me his old fully manual SLR when I was 16 to use to take photos of old houses and barns so that I could reproduce them later in other mediums. Nearly 25 years ago. My first SLR was a Pentax ME Super, and I still have it...and it still works flawlessly. I was given it for my high school graduation. Patiently I waitied for digital to catch up to film...all the while learning to use the softwares of the trade. I wonder now...where was digital all my life?

    Hobbist or Pro?

Well, I do operate as a small business, but in reality it is more of a self supporting hobby!!mwink.gif

    What else?

Yes. We eat crawfish in Louisiana. We also eat gator, but no they are not in every nook and cranny. Cajuns are crazy...just try me!!! The Big Ten is over with....wake up!!! Stop using actions and start using fill flash!!! Ok thats it...Im done....Cut!!!

    Who Are you?
Kurt, 47 yrs, happily married for 26 of those years.

    Where Are you?
Currently living in Southern Maryland, but grew up in Mississippi.

    What Do You Do?
Computer Programmer and Software Developer for the Securities and Exchange Commission in DC.

    How Long Shootin'
Just picked the hobby back up 2 years ago. My first camera, as a kid, was a little Kodak Instamatic that I'd use for astrophotography by sticking the lens up against the eyepiece of my little 60mm refractor. My wife bought me a Minolta X-700 when we were stationed in Alaska and I really got the bug then, air shows and the Alaskan landscape were my passion then (still are really). But let the hobby die for 20 years 'cause I'd shoot and shoot but rarely get the film developed! We took our first cruise to Alaska a couple of years ago and I was amazed at the quality of the little pocket digital cameras and the bug bit hard again. So now I'm into Canon and buying L series lenses *chuckle*. But I don't have to get film developed!!! How cool is that :)

    Hobbyist or Pro
    Strictly hobbyist for now.

    What Else?
Was a Russian linguist in the Air Force flying as crew of RC-135's, which was a blast but ended up being supremely unuseful once I was out :)

    Who are ya?
I am Karrie. I have been here almost 31 years. I have been married for almost 5 years and a mother for almost 4 years. I love being a mommy more than anything else I have ever been.

    Where are ya?
Hampton Roads Virginia. I am origanally from Michigan...moved away 12 years ago but I still call it home.

    What do ya do?
Stay at home with my 2 little girls. Watch other people's kids. Study photography. Study myself.

    Hobbist or Pro?
I am a hobbist for the moment...moving forward mwink.gif towards pro. I have been shooting DSLR for almost 7 months. I've had a point and shoot my whole life but...as you all know...have been learning that the DSLR world is completly diffent from the point and shoot world I was living.

    What else?
I can not spell and I have a little vocabulary. (probably the reason I am choosing photography to express myself) I was in the Navy for 6 years. I got my B.A.S. from Old Dominion University. I partied the first 26 years of my life away...don't regret a minute of it though. Photography and Spirituality are my only hobbies. People call me lucky...I don't believe in luck.

It's nice to have something to read about you all. So, in otherwords, nice to "meet" you all.
