Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.

Good luck on the recovery Dave. You better not punk out and let a little knee surgery stop you from attending.

OMG, Davev! You are one of the toughest guys I know, (and not just to look at ) so I am sure you can manage a 6 week recovery - but, but, but was this in the plan?


I sure hope everything goes well and that you recover quickly enough to go on the shootout. In the meantime, take it easy on Kate, okay?!!

Ann, I think you got it reversed. Every time Davev acts up Kate does something to his IV.


She says it helps calm him down but all I notice are the weird faces he makes and his plea for a doctor followed by a cry for a good lawyer.

This wasn't really in the plan, but I knew that I was going to need a new knee someday.
It's amazing how fast someday got here.:D

Kate and I will be there, even if I end up just shooting from near the truck.

I was hoping to have had this done in July, but the doctor was busy so it happened when it did.

At least we aren't going across any international borders this year.
With all the drugs I'll be carrying, I'd be in jail for a long time.

I remember talking about this at dinner when you guys came to DC. As that waiter said (and my own mother who has had both replaced) once you get it done you're so much happier. It may not seem all that great the first couple of days when they're making you stand and walk right away, but once it heels...woo wee!

Here's hoping for a speedy and uneventful recovery!

All the Best Dave, my mother also had a knee replacement this year.
She had a bit of trouble only for the first couple of weeks, but now she's doing just great.

My ribs are still not mended since I broke them 6 weeks ago,
I still haven't attempted to put a backpack on, I'll just cut back on luggage and camera gear if things are still bothering me when the time comes.

Got 6 weeks up my sleeve.
Looking forward to seeing you folks again soon.

If we have to, we'll make Nick be your sherpa. He's good at it.:D

If you can whittle down your equipment, I have a KATA waist pack that you could use. It works pretty well.
It made the trip with me to Angel's Landing in Zion.

It can hold up to 3 lenses, or a camera body with 2 lenses, spare batteries, memory cards, and maybe even a filter.
I'll have it along with me, if you need it, just say the word.

Luckily, as you remember from our 2006 trip, the whole Arches/Canyonlands area is fairly accessible by car, I don't expect long exhausting hikes with large altitude gain.

Well, I feel like a chump! Broken ribs can't stop skippy, and a new knee won't prevent Davev from going on the shootout, but my kid has stopped me :cry

Sigh - my oldest son's soccer team won the provincial championship today. Hurray! This is their last year of youth soccer and a great accomplishment and finale to their youth! Sadly, nationals are the same week as the shootout, in Ontario. I cannot be both places at the same time, and those that know me know I am a soccer mom.........


Hopefully, fingers crossed, I will make another shootout! Have a blast everyone, and have a 'Polygamists Pilsner' on me!

Those darn kids screw up everything.
Although we don't get to see our favorite Canadian, we're glad the kid's team won.
Congratulate the kid from Kate and I, and we'll see you at some later date.
How many more of your kids are in soccer?
I hope there not as good as their brother.:D

If the kid is in Ontario, then there is no one here to stay with the other kids if dh and I come to Utah. If I go to Utah, I will miss the 'culmunation' of 14 yrs of playing, training and not least of all my driving and $ for support.
Kids sports was the driving force behind me ever buying a digital camera, oh so many years ago.
If there was any way to do both I would!!

Thanks, Davev. The daughter hasn't played this year and the younger boy's future in sports is yet to be determined. And the oldest has been accepted into engineering this fall so he is probably done too! After October!

I'll certainly pass your well wishes to Colin. I sure hope your new knee heals well and fast!

Sorry to see that you have to back out, Ann, but I'm really happy for your son. I'm glad that we got to go shooting with you in DC while you were here! Best of luck to his team and you're a fantastic, supportive mom.
