and the rumors continue. I did hear one that it would be announced around this week, due out in June and today I read this, maybe it really will be announced this week. Don't they know we need more details?

Nice find. If the 5D Mk II comes out before the end of the current
cashback program in june I might overthink my plans of buying a 40D.

I just got back from Pro Photo Supply in Portland, OR and one of the employees there told me a canon rep had come by and was talking about how the economic troubles in Japan right now could be affecting the release of the mkII version. Which makes some sense because the world economy seems to be on a downward trend right now. His best bet was that we wouldn't see the mkII version until the fall, :(. I want to get a FF body but I guess I'll just have to wait, that or maybe get the 1Ds MKII. That or purchase some more lenses. Decisions . . . decisions . . . decisions . . . haha.

More glass, or a Mk II (that is a sweet camera).

More glass, or a Mk II (that is a sweet camera).

I opted for more glass, the 24mm f/1.4 and the 35mm f/1.4, because I think it will make a bigger difference in my photos than a 5D or MKII would. Though my next purchase will most definitely be a FF camera body because I feel like I'm filling out my lens lineup pretty well (only really want a 14mm lens at this point).

And so the saving up begins again.

One quality that could be added to the new camera(s) and be extended forever to all models:

    Anti-theft system through eye recognition

The camera and lens would work only with the recognition of our eye.

No eye: photos only through a password (tripod solution).

    Two users/eyes = two passwords.

The system should be coupled with the lens.

A lens which had been used with one camera would not work on another camera unless a password was introduced in the second camera.

I know there's some articles out there about Canon playing with such a system. I wouldn't expect to see it in any products for a long time though.

If I am not mistaken she published all the other field guides for canon dslrs after they were introduced. Wouldn't it be funny if she became victim of 5D II rumors? :D

Seems like the rumors are becomming more and more, the latest
"shows" a surfaced 5D Mark II with 24-105mm/4.0 L IS Kit add in
    Japanese:

This is fun, I really hope that Canon does not wait until the photokina
to release a sucessor of the 5D. Do you think they would hold back a new
camera and risk loosing sales to Nikon who is also (rumored) to be
working a a mainstream full frame dslr?

Things are getting more interesting in the fullframe arena. Some
images of the long rumored Nikon D700 (fullframe like Canon 5D)
    have surfaced on the web.

    Link: http://www.photographybay.com/2008/06/18/nikon-d700/

Looks like it shares the same sensor as the Nikon D3 (same MP, same ISO).

If this is true and Nikon announces this camera this year (photokina?)
I would really like to see how Canon reacts with its pricing strategy
for the hopefully soon to be announced successor of the Canon 5D.

    5D successor?
Any ideas on when we can expect a 5D successor? I know there's some rumors of a Mark II, but I'm really feeling it's time to upgrade my 30D to a FF body, and I don't want to buy the 5D when a Mark II may be days, weeks, or months away.

    MOD EDIT:
I merged this post into the existing 5DII rumors thread.

Rumors out of the blue always converge, sometimes they add something new like a new release date. Uh well.

There is a quite credible rumor over at FM about canon not sending out any more 5d's to stores.. that is a quite sure sign that something new is to come .. ;) Expect some more substantial rumors the next week, an official release within 30-45 days.
