    My version:

    14-16 mp

    4-6 fps

small, but not good enough weathersealing :(

iso 50-6400 (matching the d3/d700 quality)

rugged build, but not up to 1-series standard

    100% viewfinder

higher dynamic range than the old 5d

    no direct print button

    1cf card port

    spot-metering at active af point

    starting at 2990,-

    ;)
    -Ulrik

    Canon EOS 30D, Canon 50mm f/1.4, Sigma 70-200 f/2.8, Sigma 18-50 f/2.8, Tokina 12-24 f/4. Sigma 1.4 TC, Feisol 3401 Tripod + Feisol ballhead, Metz 58 AF-1 C, ebay triggers.

That sounds good to me. How about micro-focus adjustment?

I'm hoping Canon goes the SD route only, and with no alternative CF capability, this time around.

Smaller, lighter, uses less battery power. Time to move on and leave CF behind. nod.gif

I hope not, I just got two 16Gb CF cards...eek7.gif

Aw.. I forgot! I'm all with you on that one!

Found some interesting news on Thom Hogan's website:
Canon 5D. Like new in box w/manual, official US import. Reason for selling: clearing out some older Canon gear for expected new ones. $1399.

Not that Thom knows the ins and outs of canon more than we do.. but still, an indicator that something new is really closing in this time? ;)

Rumors are very quite since the D700. There are a couple of old rumors
that get re-posted as new ones and the usualy wishlists floating
around. So no news :) Most people expect that the new 5D gets
announced at or shortly prior to Photokina. We'll see.

If canon continues their 18 month announcement schedule, we should hear more about it in February, if ive don't my research correctly, which, if you think about it, is also when the supposed 50D should come out:

    20D - August
    30D - February
    40D - August
    50D? February?

Personally, I'm a big fan of the "pee break now" light. I think that'll be an extremely useful feature. Any time you are on a shoot and need to use the facilities, you set that, and the action will stop? (that's my assumption at least) rolleyes1.gif

Yeah, there was strong pressure on Canon to remove "Direct Print" in favour
of the Ansel Adams mode switch. Finally they caved!

I think I have decided how the 5d should be!

    1) split up in two lines 3d and 7d

    2) 3d:
    a) builtin grip, but 1 inch smaller than the 1d series cameras.
    b) 18 mp
    c) 6 fps
    d) 51 point, new af-system
    e) spot-metering at all af-points
    f) full weather sealing
    g) af micro adjust pr lens
    h) iso 50-26500 1-1.5 stop better than d3/d700
    i) $3999,-
    j) higher dynamic range than 5d. Close to fuji.

    3) 7d:
    a) 5d form factor
    b) slightly weather proofed, like 40d
    c) 14 mp
    d) 5 fps
    e) 51 point, new af-system
    f) iso 100-12800, same as d3/d700
    g) $2199,-

    Or.. more realistically:

5d MKII with some weather sealing, 16 mpix, same iso quality as d3/d700, 4-6 fps, spot-metering at afpoints and af-microadjust if lucky.
    -Ulrik

    Canon EOS 30D, Canon 50mm f/1.4, Sigma 70-200 f/2.8, Sigma 18-50 f/2.8, Tokina 12-24 f/4. Sigma 1.4 TC, Feisol 3401 Tripod + Feisol ballhead, Metz 58 AF-1 C, ebay triggers.

That picture is starting to show it's age. If there's one thing we can be sure of about the 5D mkII it's that it is not going to have a main display that small! A touch screen that fills the entire back with the pee break light in the corner is more likely lol3.gif

Something I've just thought of. If it really was going to be a touch screen, what function would like to have on the spot your nose presses against?

Me Gusto! I really hope that the price will be right <2400$ so I would buy
one for christmas. Otherwise my dreams of a bright fullframe viewfinder
    will continue :D

Apparently a UPC data base has confirmed that it will be the 7D - it was updated today, but then again, people saw this barcode back in 07 as well...anyway

    http://www.upcdatabase.com/item/0013803086706?session-id=05764d2356215af07934ffd59d9174e8

And its said to have these specs:

    -12mp
    -5fps,Up to 21 RAW files
    -dust removing system
    -15-point TTL CMOS sensor
-Center point additionally sensitive with lenses of F2.8 or faster
    -96% frame coverage
    -Magnification: 0.71x
    -3.0 " 640×480 TFT LCD (920,000 pixels)
    -ISO 50-3200 extended to 12800 and 25600
    -DIGIC III, 14-bit
-Canon EF lens mount (not EF-S)
    -Live View Mode
-The Body Is Much Identical to 5D, Could Share The Handgrip
    -Surprisingly cheap, US: $ 1,899

Which means that this image may prove to be real as well

Please folks, this is not a "genuine" UPC database and the manufacturers do not submit to this site.

You can also find the Canon 9D:
