Hi, I submited some pics only to find out after doing so that the entries were closed as of March 26.11doh.gif When does the next round start and will I need to re-submit?

If your images are not in this gallery, then yes, you will have to resubmit.

I don't know when it will reopen, but it will!

    One more question.
Is it supposed to be muenchiversity (without quotations) or
    "muenchiversity" (with quotations)?
    I know it's a stupid question but I gotta ask.ne_nau.gif

It's a good question. I changed the OP to make it clearer. thumb.gif

Hi Ulrik, I'm sure that is just up to Marc to decide when he makes his final choices. But sure, I don't see why you can't submit them. :D

For what it's worth, I tried out some of the techniques learned at the print workshop on the photo previously critiqued by Marc. Since I'm late with my homework, and my turn has passed, I'll just post it here.

There were a few trade-offs- but once I have a better handle on these new tools, I'll be able to make the refinements I'd like. I'm happier with the result overall at this point.

Wow, great job!! If it were my class, I would not deduct any points for this submission being late. :Dthumb.gif

[MOD EDIT: I've moved the image that Aaron is referencing, it can be seen here.]

Walter, that looks really good, these techniques are wonderful, the clouds really are much better IMO, the land looks more natural too, over all really great!
is this one you are going to print big?

OK guys, it's the moment you've been waiting for: Marc is almost finished critiquing the first set so Round Two of Muench University is beginning. Submit your 3 BEST landscape images here!

A few of you have emailed in submissions after the closing of Round One, so you can check your photos in the current gallery. If those people could leave a comment under their photo with username and title so I could update them, that would be great.

Remember, only plain text email will work with automagically transferring info into the caption. If your caption didn't import properly, leave a comment for the mods. Thanks and good luck! thumb.gif

    Bumpity bump!

Since Marc is ready to take on the next round of critiques, it would be peachy keen if those of you who have submitted images could post a comment in the gallery with your username so I can update the captions. Some of them have IDs and some don't, and it would be most helpful. thumb.gif

At least it doesn't take him away from photography :D

I fully understand Marc has a living to make and am thankful that he gives of his time AT ALL. If I'm not mistaken, the last post in the other thread was his critique of one of the submissions. That's why I was wondering what's up. There was no follow up after he took time to comment ne_nau.gif

Just a reminder to you eager students to drop in on class to see what's up on the block for critique. Chances are it could be yours and this is your opportunity to work on your shots one-on-one with the prof! thumb.gif

    Hi Aaron,

I've closed Round Two and have been instructing folks to hang on and wait until Round Three. Some minor changes will go into effect so just keep honing those images and I'll let you know when it's all ready. :D

    fifth
Go to the green channel in layers palette, select all and then copy (comand + c) then back in layers create a new layer and paste (comand + v)

    sixth
blur this layer with gaussian blur filter, in this image I used 7.5 amount.
Then change the blend mode to Overlay.
So simple and yet so effective!

One of those things that is, in a way, so obvious as to be overlooked. rolleyes1.gif

I spend too much time masking the details by hand and this is so much more effective. :ivar

I realize this is really old, but do you happen to remember where the original post by Marc was? I don't even understand what he was referring to, but any selection tips/tricks are worth their weight in pixels, and I'm hoping the original context will help me understand this one. :D

I read that post, and I too spend way too much time masking and selecting, and it drives me batshit. Could I follow the steps? Yeah, probably. Would I have any idea why I was doing what I was or be able to apply it to other situations? Heck no!

I know that wasn't intended as a tutorial, but it worries me that I'm so clueless that I didn't even understand it.

Sorry about the delay, Marc and everyone. Round Three is now open so please submit your images for our gallery!

One small change: Since it's only proper for Marc to be able to address the students, we're requiring that you include your name/username on every submission. If the captioning doesn't work through the email submission just leave a comment underneath the image and we'll fix it. Any images at the end of the round that do not have the correct information will be removed.

Our MU Rules and directions for email uploading are HERE.

Thanks guys and I'm looking forward to seeing your shots and hearing the critiques! thumb.gif

Did you include your username on the upload? There are several images up there (not all yours, I'm sure) that don't have a username. Which one of the images is yours? Maybe provide a link?

Please ALL: include your username in your entry.

You sent them all in the same day? If so, then I'm not sure what to say, they just aren't there. Please re-try one, and post here when you're done, k? Once we get that one set, we'll move on to the other. deal.gif
