Very strange indeed. Have you tried Firefox, as a control measure? If you don't have it, it's free from www.mozilla.com

I just want to see if you can see it there, then we'll tackle why your IE7 isn't showing.

It's working perfectly on your galleries and all galleries, IE7, here for me, and my colleagues.

I made a mistake on the email, confused you with another customer, sorry :)

These are on my home laptop, I'm not at work to try there.

I see the second one is no longer hosted by me. Something in my customization?:uhoh

    Slideshow problems
    Andy wrote:
Hi Folks! On March 17th we released a new version of our Full Screen Slideshow and also the gallery-style slideshow.

If you are having any difficulties with the slideshow, we want to help, and we'll do it here. Some things we need to know when you reply:

    1. We need to know your installed flash version, for IE (if you use it) and for other browsers. Go to this page at Adobe and tell us the results.

    Win 9, 0,115,0<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

    2. We need to know what browser you are using, and the version, and on what Operating System. E.g., IE6 on WinXP; IE7 on Windows Vista Home Premium; Firefox 2.0.0.13 on Mac OS X 10.5.

IE7 on Windows Vista Home Premium<o:p></o:p>

    3. We need a direct gallery link to where you are having the problem.

This one will do, but the slide show doesn’t work on any gallery of mine or anyone else’s.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
    http://jmlphotography.smugmug.com/gallery/1502283_56i2B#129303589<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>

    4. Tell us if you can use the Full Screen Slideshow here in this gallery.

No, my screen goes black, just like when viewing any gallery including my own.<o:p></o:p>
    5. Tell us if you can see the Full Screen Slideshow using this share link.

    No.

Some of you may have all the right stuff but have customizing that is getting in the way of your Full Screen Slideshow:
    • modifying the breadcrumb with javascript
    • having the olde javascript slideshow installed still
Looking for Shizam's Homepage Slideshow? Right Here.

    1. Win 9, 0,115,0<o:p></o:p>

Not sure that this has helped narrow the field but here we go:

    Observed behaviour (IE7)

Mouse over behaviour on "Add Photos", "Themes", "Share Photo" changed colour of button on mouseover event. Not the case on "Slideshow" but onclick the Slideshow button responds opening browser in full screen with the correctly applied theme.

    Observed behaviour (Firefox)

Mouse over behaviour on "Add Photos", "Themes", "Share Photo" changed colour of button on mouseover event. Not the case on "Slideshow" but onlick the Slideshow button does not respond.

Yes, I don't have an answer for you yet on your issue.

On thing you could try please, go to add/remove programs, remove complete your Adobe Flash from your computer, and then go to Adobe and get it anew:

When I run this otherwise great feature I get a progress meter in the middle of the picture almost all the time both on my own galleries and the test ones in your first post of the thread. I can't imagine this is meant to be!

I've got a reasonable (but sometimes a bit up and down) internet connection.

The gallery that I noticed this on: http://wyndhamhollis.smugmug.com/gallery/4614888_8RAMp#272245871

    Firefox 2.0.0.13
    Flash 9.0.115.0
    XP Pro 2002 SP2
I see both your test links OK except for the meter which is not present quite as much as the one on my gallery.

These are my stats here at home on my laptop. Per my previous posts, other computers are getting different results with the same gallery. I do not have stats on those computers. My work computer is pretty old but has been upgraded to run XP. My coworker's computer is less than 6 mos old. I know that's not very specific, but I would figure a newer computer probably has newer versions of software.

    As for add-ons, I have:

    SmugBrowser 0.5.5 beta

Adjusting thumbnails in Full screen slideshow?
I like the smooth new slideshow look and feel. I am unclear though if it is possible to adjust the thumbnails that appear just below the full screen image. I don't have zoom thumbnails created for each print in my gallery, but even for the ones that I have created, those thumbnails don't seem to be selected for use with the full screen slideshow, but rather just a random area of each image, and one that often tells the viewer little about what the full size print is about. How can I adjust those thumbnails shown below the full screen image so that they really provide useful thumbnails instead?

    Slideshow request
Not sure if this is the right spot or whether its been requested already but any chance there could be an option to turn on captions for the slideshow?
Oh and the actual slideshow quality is spot on! works a treat.
Maybe it could just be a drop down option similar to 'add photo' drop downs.
    Cheers

The progress bar will show at the beginning, while we pre-load some images. Then it'll go away, and the show will run without it.

If you click a thumb, we'll start pre-loading again from that spot, and you'll see the loading indicator.

Hi, you can't adjust 'em but we can. Look for some improvements to the way we make them in the not-too-distant future.

Is it possible to know how many visitors are viewing images via SLIDESHOW versus viewing images by scrolling through thumbs?

With the old SLIDESHOW, I used (rightly or wrongly) the number of "Large" images viewed as a proxy for SLIDESHOW viewers.

It would be very nice to know.

    Thanks.

    Bob.

I assume you're asking what happens in FF, since that seems to be more problematic. The slideshow does load, albeit slowly. This is on the home laptop.

Thanks again for your help, Andy. I know we haven't worked out the solution yet, but I appreciate the effort.clap.gif

To be clear: it loads with the www.smugmug.com link not your nickname link, yes?

If so then there's an issue with your customizing, we just have to find it for you :)

    I'm so confused.

I just went back to my own gallery - as in, clicked on my home page and navigated to the gallery to play the slideshow - in FF and it IS working. I don't get it... sometimes things work, sometimes they don't. I'm sure you guys just LOVE problems that don't consistently reproduce themselves. :bash

So I went back and re-read all my posts, trying to make sense of what my problems have been so far, and here's what I came up with:

    1. Slideshow used to not be clickable in IE, but a couple days later this was fixed, I imagine by something on your end. Been working ever since. bowdown.gif
    2. It seems only once did I have trouble opening the slideshow in FF, but it now also seems to be working, with or without customization.
    3. Things seem to work ok on my home laptop -- and by ok, I mean, it loads and works but sometimes veeerrrry slowly. Problems seem to be when I send the link to others or view on my work computer. Sent the link to 3 different people for either the FFSSSSSFFSS or to the gallery but asked them to click the slideshow button, and have mostly been unsuccessful. Problems include:
    - black screen of death
    - loading gets frozen
    - flash not recent enough version
    - absolutely nothing happens

So do these clues point to a customization problem? Some kind of cross-platform cross-version problem? I'm stumped...headscratch.gif

    5. Yes in Firefox (it was slow to load)
No in IE7 **EDIT** - turned off the IE pop-up blocker and now this works in IE7.

I also tested my site on OS-X and Firefox 2.0.0.12 does not work, Safari 3.1 does.

    Using the Smugmug links:

Better? You had play_slideshow:hover can't have that on the slideshow button now, that it's a flash object.

    :nah
I went to my site and to http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/4463015_aq44D#262518241 (which is the gallery sans customizing) so the slideshow button is smugmug's default. Still no show. I am going to pop over to the iMac and check that, too. Back in a sec....

    **EDIT 1**
    OS-X Firefox - no
    OS-X Safari - yes.

    **EDIT 2**
I noticed your comment in my customization that the CSS hover for the slideshow broke IE. I never had a problem with IE with or without the change for the hover button. Just FYI.

I went ahead and again deleted all customization (Bio, CSS, Header Java, Header, Footer, body tag, head tag, etc.). My site should now be "default". i logged out and clicked on the slideshow button in Firefox.

Galleries reset to Theme: Smugmug Classic, Appearance: Smugmug

    No go.
