Saving my photos. Editing them with my own program. Uploading those edited photos. Arranging those photos. Delete the old ones. Come back later, and the edited photos are back at the end of the album.

Thats all I can tell you.

It's 2am in the morning, I thought I'd just finished arranging a gallery ready for a client to view in the morning, and now I find half the photos that I've ordered have randomly re-arranged themselves throughout the gallery, necessitating probably another 20 minutes work, after which they'll probably still re-arrange themselves again... why is this glitch still happening almost a week later??? Unbelievably frustrating.

I will repeat what I posted above.

There was and is a couple different bugs that are related to how arrangements are stored. We fixed most of them and still have some work to do on a couple others. The last one that is going to be the hardest to squash deals with how the database updates the positions on multiple slave servers. When the information is replicated it is resetting things. From talking with the sorcerers involved, we have to be very careful about how we fix it to prevent making the problem worse. I can assure you that they are working on it. I will let you know when it is all clear.

We want this bug fixed and it will be as soon as possible.

It's Monday, March 28th, almost 10 pm in New York.
I added a photo to the gallery linked below yesterday or the day before, moved it be about the ninth photo of the 70 or so in the gallery (it's an old journal style), and found today that it was at the end (page 7). It moved all by itself. It looks really stupid because this gallery is written like a guide, so out-of order images mean the text makes no sense at all.

Thank you for any updates you might provide on this.

This has been going on for about three weeks now. It's documented, and we have been assured it is fixed, but it's not.

Wayne, if you look back a mere 3 posts to post #95 by DocWalker, you'll see you're not quite correct about that...

Count me as another customer with this issue - just back from vacation and trying to arrange an album to share but it's jumbling everything up. I'm afraid to look at my other galleries - do you know if this is an issue only affecting recently updated albums?

    Thanks!

The two galleries of mine where this was a problem have been stable now for over 24 hours with changes/additions and rearrangements. Thanks for the good communication as you worked this out.

Huzzah! I rearranged both albums last night and they are still in the same order today. Looks like the problem may indeed be fixed. Thanks for all your hard work!

Hi, just a final post to say I've had no more problems with albums rearranging themselves; looks like it is truly fixed. Thanks again.

Dennis, Can you give me details on how you had your images sorted before they changed. Yours is the first report I have seen since we fixed the problem a few weeks ago. Have ou uploaded, or made any other changes to your galleries since you arranged them? When was the last time they were correctly arranged that you know of?

That'd be cool. I can't comment on it other than that, thanks for the suggestion. Add it to our feedback system, too http://feedback.smugmug.com thanks!

Sorry for taking so long to get back. Things have been hectic.
    I can recreate the problem.
When I upload a few pictures I often check arrange and move the new pictures in a different order then open tools/ caption/keyword to add keywords.
When I come back out of that dialog the pictures will be rearranged. Hope this helps.

I'm trying to rearrange and save my pictures after uploading and they still change every now and then. This is so very frustrating. I have reported it over and over again. It seems that you will no longer even respond.ne_nau.gif

Hi Dennis, it's not often, but a thread can be missed on Dgrin. Sorry. But we never miss an email at our help desk, where 365 days a year we have Support Heroes standing by and answering questions and helping. Even now, on Sunday morning at 8am.

I'll ask someone to contact you and figure this out.

This is nothing new and has been going on for years!
I have left messages off and on about it all this time.
It's a constant thorn in my side.

I have started a new gallery here...

    http://www.dennismullen.com/Machines/EAA-2011/18296918_6p2Z2t#1408229280

I could not get the order to stay put. Of course they were rearranged again this morning.
I use Windows 7 64 bit and Firefox. Everything is up to date.

I usually use the Caption/Keyword tool to add keywords. When I go back to the gallery it sometimes will be reordered.
I can't get this galleries order to stick.

HI Dennis, it's been a problem before, that lots complained about - and then as you can see in this very thread, we fixed it - but something's still not right for you and your galleries, and we want to address it and see if something's been overlooked. Please please write our Support Heroes with the details so we can get to the bottom of this.

Doc sent me the following message so I am not the only one still having problems. The claims of the problem being fixed are premature. This irritating problem must be fixed once and for all!

    "Dennis,

It should be saving automatically as you drag. I had Lindy test and she says that she had similar trouble. I have reported the issue to our QA team to investigate and get it fixed for you. I cannot give you a time estimate but look for a post on our release notes when that is updated. You can view the release notes here: http://news.smugmug.com/ I would recommend signing up for the RSS feed. Or by leaving a comment, you have the option to be notified by email when a new post is added.

    Hi Dennis,

Andy, as many of us did, thought this was previously fixed. Doc and Lindy have passed their findings on to our Q/A department who will dig into it and figure out what is causing the problem so it can be fixed by our sorcerers. Thanks for bringing this back up. The process has been started again to find a solution for this but as Doc said I cannot give you any timeframe for a fix as we cannot predict how long it will take to find the cause and also a solution for it.
