must have gear?
Well when I said my next post would be in a different section I lied. I got a rebel xt, tamron 28-75 f2.8 lens, canon 580ex flash, bag, tripod all together from someone who was unloading all their stuff. Now I'm wondering what else I need. I have a 2 gb SD III card coming. I will get photoshop shortly but have no… -
Re: Quick Settings
Quick Settings Thanks, Allen, for your succinct answer to my question. I really appreciate it. I've read some of the SmugMug material which I interpreted as suggestions that a QuickSetting could be applied to a large number of galleries with a couple of key strokes. I guess that would be true if all the galleries were in… -
Re: Suggestions for lens to take to Buenos Aires and Patagonia
Of my travel kit, the 2 most useful lenses I would take would be: Canon EF-S 17-55mm, f/2.8 IS USM Canon EF 70-200mm, f/4L IS USM I would also have a Canon 1.4x teleconverter and a Canon 500D closeup diopter, both to fit the 70-200mm. PySmug and secure upload problem
I was recently starting to play with the great PySmug 0.5 library and trying to upload a photo into an existing album, but got problems with the underlying pycurl not able to communicate against https://api.smugmug.com with the following exception: File "/opt/tools/pysmug-0.5/pysmug/__init__.py", line 67, in mg return… -
Re: Video Lights...Documentary, Portable...Suggestions?
Happy New Year... Thanks again for getting back to me. I will check out your suggestions. For audio capture I use one of my Sennheiser ME 66 or ME 67 for on camera mics (usually this handles one of the channels). Then I mic up wirelessly to the subject with the Sennheiser ew100 (transmitter and receiver). My units are a… -

Re: Camera insurance for amateurs?
I had a conversation with my State Farm agent today regarding camera/gear insurance. She said if there was any income generated from the use of the insured camera or gear, then there would be a coverage question should a loss occur if you went with a non-professional "personal article floater". So I asked a different way,…
