Re: What's your story?
I just came across this thread. My name is Sandra Arison. I was raised in Los Angeles CA and currently live in West Hollywood. I have two grown children. I recently lost my beautiful dog, Helix to old age. I live with Catherine, my siamese cat who I adopted about a year and a half ago from the pound. She is 11 years old.… -
Re: First Day with the D2H
Andy, enjoy it while you can. However, don't worry, age will be forgotten as long as you enjoy what you are doing. I'm 61 and pushing 62 hard. My youngest is 30 and my oldest is just two years behind you. Enjoy Yosemite and celebrate your birthday in its grandeur. It would be hard to find a better place to celebrate your… -
Re: uv, haze & protection filters
Another thing that speaks for B+W Filters is the F-Pro Mount. The screw on mount of the filter is not aluminuim (its copper?) and thus the filter doesnt lock on other aluminuim threads. I found this very convenient in the field. One doesent have to use a gripper for removing your ND filter from a Pol etc. As of 14 April… -
Re: A young shooter catches up to the pack
I agree that chasing the Full Frame grail is silly. I keep having to ask: full fame in relation to what? Even the 5D and 1Ds bodies are crop compared to my Mamiya, and that's crop in comparison to the RB67 Mamiyas, Hassys, and any LF camera you care to name. However, the other three reasons the OP gve are good ones (high… -

OK I did as you suggested (on my Mac) and although it means absolutely nothing to me I'm sure it makes sense to you! Let me know the implications? Re: Tripod Height
For your height, any tripod would be plenty tall enough except for maybe some really cheap ones. As far as a ballhead and camera on top goes, I'd say add a good 8-10" from the top of the tripod mount to the viewfinder on your D7000. If you're going to use a pan/tilt type head, it won't be quite as tall. This is the tripod…
