Re: To fisheye or just go UWA.
Thanks everyone. I'm still on the fence. But the Tokina 12-24 is starting to lag behind. The statement above really interests me. If there is software (that would work on a mac) that can remove the "funkyness" of a distorted shot, i.e. a fisheye shot, wouldn't the fisheye be the more useful lens? I haven't heard about this… -

Re: Photoshop book?
Hello, I agree about the Scott Kelby book - very easy to understand and he has quite a few good tips and shortcuts. In addition, I found Rick Sammon's Complete Guide to Digital Photography: 107 Lessons on Taking, Making, Editing, Storing, Printing, and Sharing Better Digital Images to be very helpful, even though it's not… -

DSS 107 behind the scenes
So I was out with my son in Connecticut, and he was out playing with a dollar-store lantern. I got some good pics, like this one: But nothing that said "Essence of Youth" to me. Then I said, hold up the lantern like and look at it. Just as I was ready to make the shot a car with its headlights on turned a corner, bathing… -
Re: *ENTRY* Thread DSS #53 (innocence or knowledge)
Another missed contest....I had a couple of (I thought clever ideas) but never did get my arse in gear....and I lacked a 3 year old and a Santa outfit to pull one of them off ...its been hot as blazes here (yesterday was 107) ....and I just got myself a Nook ....and just DL Lightroom so I am learning that too...I guess I… -
Re: Andy's Un-Official Unsolicited Mac Advice Thread
With all due respect, Valleywag is anything but authoritative on anything, being primarily a site for grabbing hits due to inflammatory statements. I recommend these two articles from Ars Technica, and also remind everyone that the presence of an app store is in ADDITION to, not in place of, the way you get apps today on… -
Re: Lens for Weddings Question
Wedding Photography Lenses I have several bodies and lenses (Canon). I find without a doubt for me the most versatile lense is the 24-105L f4. I also have the 70 -200 f2.8. It has the best quality of any lens ever but realise that many wedding do NOT give you the room to work a 70mm lens ans i am using full frame bodies… -
Any experience with Marumi CPL filters?
I'm in the market for a 77mm thin circular polarizer and found a Marumi brand in searching through the 2filters website. I then discovered a polish website that tested out various filters and rated the Marumi (at $107) equivalent [first place] to the B+W KSM MRC slim one (at $190) - Link. This obviously sounds too good to… -
