Re: GPS logger
I use the gistek phototrackr CD-111 (no longer available). The software is a bit quirky, but I found the gps logging superior to my android app, and my garmin. It keeps a signal even when I have it in my fanny pack, and would occasionally pick up signal along the Paris metro. The battery lasts at least 24 hours. Sometimes… -
Re: Missing warranty card!!! New Canon 5D Mark III without warranty card?
sure along time ago when we were still shooting film and I was buying contax RTS 111 and you only had 3 in stock and everyone I bought was damaged one had a broken shutter and some gentlemen when I dared return the 3 rd body I think at the time if I remember were $2000.00 a pop. so when you didnt have another to give me in… -
Still Learning to Capture Hummingbirds
Well, I have all the equipment I need, now I just have to learn to effectively use it. Here's a shot from last night. I used the Nikon D800e and 300mm f4 with 1.4 teleconverter. I'm still not close enough, so it's forcing me to aggressively crop. I don't like doing that because then I have to over-compensate in… -
Palio Di Siena From Aug 16, 2010
I was fortunate enough to witness Palio Di Siena this past August Siena’s Palio is a bareback horse race, held twice each year on July 2nd and August 16th. The Piazza del Campo, Siena's main square, is filled with dirt and the race highlights the week of trial runs, feasts, parades and ceremony. Here are a few shots from… -
Re: Smugmug caters to Pros? (Lack of auto-rotation, videos)
hey fellow "non pro" user! I had the same rant just recently, especially about some of the seemingly simple requests that are made, but I don't see those addressed. (like, why can't I download an original if I am logged in?) http://www.dgrin.com/showpost.php?p=405978&postcount=111 some days I log on and there's a whole new… -
Re: Andy/Baldy - feed me
I agree the name is a little less than appealing, but the results are pretty are very impressive. Marty, our Great Pyr, used to have a bad rash on his belly and lots of ear infections changing to BARF made it go away. Chloe, our Newfoundland, has bad hips and used to have a skin rash as well, the rash went a way. Chloe is… -
Re: The Racetrack of Death Valley
Thank you, Dave! Death Valley is a huge place with lots and lots to see. All of the main roads in Death Valley are paved and suitable for any kind of car. There are certain areas in Death Valley that are only reachable by dirt roads, and the Racetrack is one such place. There is absolutely no need for 4x4 getting to the… -
Re: Could really use some advice
Here's what I think. Your focus point seems to often be off the person with the ball (for example, Sam Soccer-111 and 110). Also, turn down your ISO to the lowest you can go (400 will just not have as good IQ as 100) and still have good shutter speed, and don't be afraid to open up the lens for less DOF. A couple of other… -
Re: Countdown to Dgrin 2.0
Ahh, yes, I see it now. More icons for the important stuff.. I should have guessed. I'm glad it's still here, but since there's a bunch of empty space in that bar anyway, 2 obvious words like "My Threads" would be truly grand in accompanying the little icon! For the record, it's not the "look" that bugs me. In a forum, I… -
Combine two :hover effects
Hi... i have a kind of a menu page with some galleries and pages here. Currently the settings for the thumbs/info is set to overlay and hide on hover. What i like to do is to show a small arrow if the user hovers a gallery/folder thumb (my own hover effect) while the gallery/folder title will disappear (the SM-hover…
