Great catch, Scott. Original dates were 8 - 11, and it is likely that official shooting will be on those dates (with the 11th, Sunday, as travel home day).
We decided to block book hotel rooms for the 7th, so that by arriving on the 7th we had a full 3 days of shooting(8,9,10).

FWIW, arrival on the 7th is to allow grinners to shoot sunrise on the 8th and potential social purposes on the 7th. Marc, Dave and Andy are currently planning arrival on the 8th, as they have a workshop in Utah immediately before this one.

I was so excited when I saw the location announced for this year! I've been going to Acadia for 29 years now on vacation every summer and must have a thousand pictures of the place; however I've never gone with the sole purpose of taking photographs. I just got my first SLR last year and don't have a lot of experience. This past summer I tried to focus a little more on taking photos, but with two tween boys pulling you in every direction its hard to concentrate on the photo. I've been pretty much all over Mount Desert Island (where most of Acadia is located) and also to Schoodic Pennisula which is also part of Acadia but is on the mainland, about a 45-60 minute drive (my parents have a summer cabin 20 minutes from Schoodic). So hopefully I would be able to help with locations. I have no idea what I'm doing when photographing but I've learned a ton already from being a dgrin member for almost a year. I'm looking forward to the chance to learn even more at the shootout. I think the lottery was a great idea, giving everyone a fair chance. If I get in, I'll be driving up from Providence (6 hour drive), I welcome company for the drive if anyone wants to fly into Providence instead of Boston, Bangor, Portland, or Bar Harbor. Thanks again for organizing this event.
If I am lucky enough to be one of the first 60 selected, is there a deadline for the $100 deposit?
I am being treated to a trip to Hawaii for my 50th B'day and arrive home on Dec 1. Just wondering if I need to find internet access before I get home...
Internet access could be dangerous - it leads to being able to see whats going on at work, which is never a good thing to see...

Tony, I think this could definitely be worked out. If nothing else, we're not trying to be anal
Sign up will be in a separate thread, via a form, during the two + weeks from November 7-23.We will be able to accommodate a total of 60 people, but sign up will be open for the full two weeks.
Sign-up will be in a thread here on the forum. The thread will open on Nov. 7.
I'll bet that this has been covered, but I'm to lazy to go back through the thread to look for it again.
Question:
As you know, my wife (Kate) and I have gone on 3 of these shootouts together.
When we enter the lottery, do we go in as a couple taking up 2 spots, or do we need to split up and hope for the best in the lottery?
Basically, this is our vacation for the year, if we can't sign up as one, we'll
just get a room near the hotel you have, and maybe we'll bump into
one and other in the park.
Not trying to cause trouble, just stating the facts.:D

Dave,
dgrin couples like you and Kate have been given a significant amount of thoughts in our discussions.
Bottomline: you sign up as one dual entry and take either two spots or none, depending on lototron outcome.

I thought that I had read that somewhere in one of these threads, just wanted to be sure.

And yes, good excuse to show off a beautiful photo of a beautiful car
Nik has posted here (and updated on 26 oct 2008) that the dates for the shootout are 8 - 11 Oct 2009.
Realizing that at this point, one day really doesn't make a lot of difference, but can someone clarify the situation a bit for me?
Thanks

It is our (committee) and Smugmug's pleasure to put the shootout on!
Stephanie, I am sure you will have takers for the offer to ride share, and any insider tips would be appreciated too.
