You are going to love the 5D2!

    Don't we already? :)

of course, that's probably only those of us who have one Laughing.gif.

as norcalshooter said, B&H seem to have the kit in stock - has been since early yesterday so either nobody's buying or they got a ton. Check the 5d wiki status page for the latest on B&H and others who may have stock and for all the latest news - updating this thing all day :)

oh, and i have 2 videos online now here at smugmug! They're 720p - have gotten into the beta and can now upload as 1080 but that requires reupload for these 2.

Cute videos Mitch, both made me smile.

    Thanks!

Still lots of learning to do with video and this camera... (and of course I'm sharing much of that learning in the wiki) - hope to make it a great resource

Go easy on me, it's been a while since I've done any photography and I'm feeling like a complete n00b with Lightroom and Photoshop at the moment.

The Best Buy discount price seems to be gone. Anyone know why?

Maybe too many tried to get it at that price or tried to get a price reduction on their purchase like myself! (which didn't work!! I tried last night!)

I thought it was a special sale that was on their homepage... you can still get the 10% discount tho - it is good thru 1/31 --- have a link to it on the wiki status page for yesterday

I ordered my body only through my dell corp account and got it for $2,550. I then realized hmmmm I should check out the accessories...and found this awesome wireless WFT-E4A file transmitter that just absolutely ROCKS!!! You can have people viewing from a website while you are still shooting!!! Talk about a new spin on "Live View" lol ...then yes of course I had to get that L glass that I was missing 24-105 f4...can't wait to get it all running!!!!

Well, I ordered one at 2:30 Sunday morning.

www.pictureline.com has both the body only, and the kit in stock.

I've never heard of this place, did a quick check online, the place looks good,
but you make up your own mind before ordering from them.

I guess now days when it says in stock, it doesn't really mean in stock.

Ordered (via web) Sunday morning at 2:30 Central Standard time.
Monday, I hear nothing from them, so I call. I'm told that the shipment is coming in Tuesday.ne_nau.gif What happened to in stock?
Tuesday, around 6:00 pm CST, I get an email. It says the plane was delayed, no shipping til Wednesday, but only if you ordered overnight shipping, otherwise it would be shipped Friday.
This is a UPS thing because of Christmas Eve. I understand that they can not control that, but if they'd have had them in stock, this wouldn't have mattered.
Now mind you, they still don't have the cameras in their hands, but their tracking info is saying that they'll receive them Wednesday.

    So I canceled my order.
Call me old fashion, but when I read in stock, I expect that item to ship the next day, not 5 days later.
Needless to say Pictureline won't get any business from me.

I was originally going to wait awhile till the black dot, banding, and whatever else shows up gets cleared up.
Pictureline just gave me a good excuse to go back to my original plan.

With a little luck, after the holidays, the price will come down a bit and they'll be more readily available.

    Enjoy your new cameras.

    Dave,

I can say that I absolutely agree with you. One of my pet peeves is that if you say in-stock and I order next day within the time frame of same day ship I should get it the next day. I've run into this with some other on-line vendors and their responses have all been...next day shipment from the time they get/ship it and I think it is as a pathetic excuse as the airlines holding people on the tarmack for 6+ hours against their will...to me that is kidnapping!

I haven't had a chance to shoot anything useful with mine yet. Saturday I have a wedding and I'm looking very forward to shooting with an 85mm 1.2L Good times that'll be.

Mine just survived about an hour of being snowed on in 20-degree (F) weather. Not sure I would have trusted my 5D quite as much in this sitch.

Favorite wedding photo ever I am almost tempted to say.

    5D2 + 135L (@f2) + 580EX2 w/ Fong diffuser = this magic:
    441961485_Q4t9n-L.jpg

The 5D2 + 35L (@f1.4) in available light is also pretty awesome (and I only needed ISO 800 for this surprisingly)

Mine arrived in the shop on Christmas Eve, so after a quick charge of the battery and a play though the menus. (C.Fn IV:3 set to 4 is the first thing I do on a Canon DSLR) We went out to the local "Carols by Candlelight" event where me and my brother played up.
