Which street photographer earned a famous nickname, based on his unique ability to frequently arrive just minutes after crimes and emergencies were called in?
I found a brief Internet window (which closes in an hour)! Just wanted to say I love Weegee's work. He's been a big influence.
In other news, I saw my first original Diane Arbus photos today in the Moderna Museet. They were an unexpected surprise.
Good to see you made it there safe and sound Kerry, and are having fun too, from the sound of it. Hopefully, we will get lucky enough to receive a digital photo postcard from ya on the next window...:D:D:D
why thanks! I know it just old stagnent water from the flooding and the smell is awful.... but the colors are great down there. I just got lucky he sat there for me at all. There's a beaver lodge across the road I am watching.
Gee, if there was just a song about snowy egret's!

Funny you should say that Donna - I am working on an assignment for my photog class and I'm trying to resist the temptation to find a song title that will correspond with that image. I'm not too motivated by this challenge - but google searching song titles to fit my pic seems like cheating.....you know, that it would more appropriate to find an inspiring song and then work towards creating that image.
What does everyone else think?? Am I overthinking this?
BTW - I really like the green sludgy algae stuff.....worthy of a few pics all by itself IMO.

I know what you mean. My assignment for photo club is "cold", which will be fun in this heat. Wish I had snow and I would do "Frosty the Snowman". I was lucky last month it was B&W, so it corresponded with our DSS in B&W.
I have a whole list of song ideas. It is just a matter of doing one of them justice.
Exactly! I've looked at every title on the Billboard list of 500 most popular songs of all time. This challenge is keeping me awake at night! Something will come.....hopefully.

lol, me too. I wil be almost asleep and all of a sudden a song will pop in head and I have to get up and write it down.

Well,, I think either way works as long as ya get the job done..:D
As for myself, I love, love, shoot set ups, so I like to pick the song first and then have a go at creating it..

I agree - as long as you get the job done. But then (personally) I think about the reason why I participate in the first place - to learn, grow..blah, blah, blah. So am I really doing the "job" if I do the former vs the latter? I guess only I can make that judgement. Matter of fact, the more I type, the more I hate those carwash pics....shouldn't have even posted them.
Thanks Kat - thinking of Dean Martin reminds me of perhaps my favorite artist of all time - and why did I not think of him before I have no idea - Frank Sinatra!
sunset
ok, I pumped up the color a little so it shows more like what I saw, but this still doesn't do it justice. Now why would there be a blue section like that in the middle of all these sunset colors? I have never seen that before. Anyone else? http://donna-niemann.smugmug.com/gallery/7736631_xBmjw/1/#585120291_RZVjk-A-LB
So Donna,,, how are those poor little dgrin orphans doing?
I took mine swimming today to make up for mommy's dgrin addiction..
well, we were going to Lazer tag today and take my nephew with us. He doesn't have any friends in town yet. We got there and it was closed tuesday and wednesday! so... nephew came here and they played WII until grandma came to get him. He didn't want to leave, so that is when we went to have pizza.
Actually mine are old enough that they don't really care if I am around unless they need a ride somewhere. They are happy (locked in the house) with games and computers... poor little pale dgrin orphans.
