JUst wondering if my Sig is what it should by the rules of this forum
    THan you
    Eddy

Your signature contains size, font and color tags which all need to be removed from your signature for it to match the requirements in the first post.

    Thank you for asking.

After reading through all these posts I've come up with what I'd like to see.

font size - only allow same size or smaller
    limit the No. of lines
color - who cares, if it doesn't show on some themes that's their problem
Smiley - allow one non-flashing - some have their own identity smiley that definitely should be allowed.
Equipment - only allow camera type - Canon, Nikon, Canon shooter, etc. No lenses or other stuff
    links for site, blog, etc.

After a few pages (let alone ten!) of heated argument on so many forums out there, the content would distill to politics, religion, or personal attacks.

I am so happy to be part of a community that is willing to debate.
(even if the decision is already made, in this case)

Why are links not even allowed in signatures now? My signature was a lot more helpful to others before the new rules than it can be now.

That wasn't our intent. In fact, the whole thing now looks completely different from what we were expecting. Sorry about that. Stay tuned while we sort it out.

John, what you're seeing is not what we intended. We're looking at it right now.

The changes are mostly in effect. Some signatures are not showing the changes we expected yet, but we hope to get that sorted out soon. Thanks for your patience.

Looks to be fixified, sorry about that, John!

"We'll be standardizing fonts, font size and color keeping them the same as the forum default. Going forward, FONT, SIZE and COLOR tags in signatures will be ignored."

The above is a quote from the first page and yet I still see some with small "non-standardized" text in their signatures.
Is this kind of like the "footer" where some are grandfathered in?

I'm not sure what your point is because if you read Richard's post just two above yours, you'll see we're working on it.

    Thanks.

As to smaller font, are you going to change yours? :D

I think a smaller font really helps by making the siggy un-intrusive and would like this to remain.

Links appear to be working again, but you stripped out my ability to use a smaller font for the signature. Now the signature doesn't separate out from my post and the whole thing looks less useful. I have not followed this long thread to have any understanding of what you were trying to accomplish with this change, but my signature is now less visually functional and useful than it was by offering no visual distinction from the post text. Looks like Allen has the exact same comment. Can we have the smaller font back?

I do too, will see if it's possible to allow smaller-than-normal font sizes but disallow giant ones.

Hey jfriend, I've been thinking about your request and it seems pretty reasonable to me. Give me a little bit and let me see what I can do.

    Thanks for your reply.
My point was with regards to the smaller fonts like those in Andy's signature.

When I went to make mine smaller I was unable to do so at the time of that post.

Please note the definition of a "Standard".

Why not size 2? To me one is a bit too small.

Same here. I can't modify my sig without taking a lot of content out. It nails you if you have a bunch of links in your sig because the URLs count as part of the allowed length.

For links you need to use TinyUrls.com or similar to shrink the links.

I still had to cut a fair bit from my, but that helps! thumb.gif

You could use a link shortner, something like bit.ly to shorten the links that you are trying to go to. Or if you host your own domain you could create your own redirects. I know it isn't ideal, but it could be a workaround.

Yeah, work-arounds. It just seems like embedded links (done with the code) shouldn't count in the length since they have no impact on the visual length of the sig.

Right, but vB doesn't think like that, AFAIK. We're looking into this.

I'm curious - how do I remove the lemon chiffon from my name in my signature? I don't recall putting it there, and now I can't figure out how/where to remove it.

Click on You! in the upper left of the forum, then Edit Signature. Simply remove the color tags from your signature. thumb.gif

Thank you. I know where to find and edit my signature, but the question is, how do I remove the color tags? What exact part of the code do I remove?

Click on the top right button in the Edit Signature box, I think it has an A on it. You'll see the html code. Remove the COLOR tags around your name thumb.gif
