    Make current page number more obvious.
    Now that I have gallerys with lots of pages I've noticed that the following looks exactly the same for pages 13 - 16 (especially when link underlines are turned off):

    >> gallery pages: << < 12 13 14 15 16 17 >

    So, my feature request is to do something so the current page number is more obvious. This could be as simple as giving number indicating the current page a different color.

    Thanks

    It's been discussed a lot here on Dgrin. The cart can't be customized - we have to maintain total control over it for security and transacion reasons. Wish I had a better answer for you....

    Thanks for the suggestions!

    Just to clarify what I meant by "skinnable." I realize the need to keep it clearly smugmug...but it would be great to have the ability to tune the color scheme, and style to match my site.

    For example, it would be great to change the background and font colors for the cart, so I could have a black on beige site and cart, even if the cart's branding remains smugmug.

    You can already do that using CSS styling. You can make page numbers that are clickable (e.g. <<, <, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17 and > in your example) and that are non-clickable (e.g. current page 16) any font/color size you want. E.g. i made my clickable pages a little whiter, no underscore:
    http://www.streetsofboston.com/gallery/840123/4 and make sure the gallery style is set to 'smugmug' or 'smugmug_small'.

    E.g.
    #smugmug #albumNav_top .leftColumn,
    #smugmug_small #albumNav_top .leftColumn{
    /* make all non-linked (e.g. current page) text green */
    color: green;
    }
    #smugmug #albumNav_top .leftColumn a,
    #smugmug_small #albumNav_top .leftColumn a {
    /* make all linked/clickable text red */
    color: red;
    }

    Hope this helps

    With the start of the year, I'd like to repost my request to allow several feature photos within one gallery. Seems like an easy to implement but a nice feature to me.

    More accurate interpretation of focal length exif info
    There are only a very few full frame digital cameras. There's no reason why smugmug shouldn't get the 35mm equivalent focal length right for the Canon 5D, 1Ds and 1DsMkII. Moreover, a simple table could also get the sensor size right for the small number of cameras that produce the vast majority of professional images. Images from cameras not listed in this table could default to the current treatment so that this should be a strict improvement.
    If not now, when?

    When browsing keywords I can't bulk edit the captions/keywords of a certain keyword. It always brings up all the photos of the gallery where the photo for which I selected the bulk edit belongs to.

    This makes it very painful to edit a whole bunch of keyworded photos that are connected. I declare it as a bug, because for me the UI suggests that I've got the possibility to do a bulk edit of the selected keyword. This suggestion is enhanced for me as I'm using traditional view and there's absolutely no connection to the original gallery in which I land using the bulk edit anymore. mwink.gif

    Thanks,
    Sebastian

    Sebastian, funny you mention this as I just tried this a couple of days ago myself for the first time and was surprised at the result as well. I expected to be able to edit the keywords for the photos shown, not for the originating gallery.

    To perfect the cart... :) (allmost)
    Let's see... to perfect the cart :D ...

    * Speed it up so that 300+ pics can be easily ordered.
    * Add better navigation
    * Add wishlist's so carts can be saved (I've had several customers mention losing their carts. My sports customers like to add to the cart as the season progress's and then bunches at once... but they loose their cookie's (carts).
    * Add filenames to the pics in the cart (or the option to see the filename)
    I need this 1) for verification (such as when I'm checking to make sure I've added everything from a list provided by the customer) and 2) when choosing from similar pics which ones to duplicate for larger sizes.
    * Of course add packages thumb.gif
    * I'm not very fond of the drop down lists... specialty prints cries out 'more expensive' so most people don't even check it when in fact it's simply different sizes in all price ranges. I'd like to see the dropdown menu be listed in order of print sizes ---- to ----; print sizes ---- to ---- ETC. Some may argue to keep square prints etc seperate but making it by size = clear, easy to understand, find & navigate.
    * The ability to bulk add photos from a keyword search result (team members, individual players). I just had a gal e-mail me two days ago who wants to buy every football picture in 4x6 of 3 different boys but she couldn't add them to the cart without going through every game and sorting from all the other players (her grandkids). I havn't figured it up yet but I'm guessing it will be about 300 pictures.
    * Hmmmm pondering here... more items in the future (and possibly some of them being things that only Pros can offer their customers) packages, sets of photo greeting cards, photo books, matted &/or framed prints,... :smooch

    These aren't really listed in order of preference & certainly it's dreaming big - Laughing.gif - I'm sure others would have something to add & I may even think of something else but for now gotta get to work.

    Ya'll have a great day now ya heer! wave.gif

    New to smugmug, so not sure if this hasn't already been asked for... if so, forgive me :) This is also my second day with smugmug so please let me know if these are already possible; I might have overlooked some hidden feature!

    Two suggestions for Move Pictures

    Suggestion One: Select Range On the Move Pictures screen, allow some way to select a range (in Windows for example you click item 1 then move to item 10 and shift-click it, and items 1-10 are selected). This should be doable by just capturing the shift modifer on a click event with JavaScript.

    The situation I ran into is this:
    Suppose I've uploaded a gallery of 300 photos want to split it in two. As far as I can tell, I have to click 150 photos individually and then move them. It would be nice if these 150 clicks could be reduced to 2. One on the first photo then a shift-click on photo 150.

    A similar suggestion is to make the row numbers on the right clickable so that I can select/deselect entire rows.

    Suggestion Two: Move Individual It'd be nice to have a way to move a single photo directly from its gallery page.

    Situation:
    I'm browsing my gallery while logged onto my account, looking for blurry/bad photos to remove and put it in my hidden "Blurry" photos gallery. If I click on move photos right now though, it takes me to the page with all the photos in my gallery -- which, if my gallery has a lot of photos, means that I have to scroll around, find the photo I was looking at and click it.

    It'd be nice to reduce this to just clicking Move individual on the photo's gallery page, selecting in the gallery I want and clicking Move.

    have originals only display to owner
    Is there anyway to turn on originals for the site owner. while all other users will not have access to originals. Currently to access my own originals i have to turn them on for the gallery and the turn them off when finished. Maybe even turn on originals for just friends or family would be even better, or just password protect originals.

    I'm not sure if this has been mentioned in the past (this thread is MASSIVE and a search was unsuccessful), but I have a suggestion.

    For pro members, our sales are listed with a per-sale profit total and an accruing overall total, which is lovely. Now that I have received a few checks, however, having them all listed in one long list means to know how much to expect from an upcoming check I have to add up those marked "unpaid" manually, which is a pain in the arse.

    Any way to group profits by check, or by month, or something other than all lumped together? Any way to have an accruing total of both the total profit and the total unpaid profit so it is easier to track?

    lol3.gif Hi Sara, you should have seen the last feats thread - it was 25 pages :D you, our customers, love to tell us what to do lol3.gif - and we wouldn't have it any other way!

    Try downloading the .csv file, it's great for all the manipulation you are asking about.

    control panel>pro print sales>sales details>download.

    wave.gif hope you are well!

    Thanks, Andy! I'll have to refresh my spreadsheet knowledge, but that should do the trick!

    Doing pretty good, approaching the end of my treatment and can SEE the light at the end of the tunnel. Wooha! In all seriousness, smugmug's ease of use made it possible to ship these buggers all over the world and scrape by during tough times, so THANKS.

    Hello Smugmug,

    Google has program going called 'google sitemaps'. It is possible to verify your site and have a better chance that your site is found and indexed.

    However, Google looks for this file (example):
    http://www.yoursite.com/google123456f0ce95e9d8c.html

    If you have your domain www.yoursite.com pointed to www.smugmug.com (via CNAME record changes at your domain provider), this html file needs to be uploaded to www.smugmug.com. Currently this is not possible.

    My request for a new feature is:
    It would be nice if pro-accounts can upload any (size limited) file to their root directory, so that google sitemaps can verify the site. I.e. i'd like to be able to log-in to my account and upload google123456f0ce95e9d8c.html to www.yoursite.com, go to google-sitemaps and hit the 'verify' button successfully.

    Thanks
    -- Anton.

    Reason i ask for this fix/update:

    Google will not index one site twice, you won't get more than one listing and the equal-ness of sites is judged on their contents (see http://groups.google.com/group/google-sitemaps/browse_thread/thread/b1d84fa8194e7965/0774c646f6c2c1ca#0774c646f6c2c1ca).

    However, most of us smugmuggers started out with a site that could be reached using http://nickname.smugmug.com.
    When upgrading to a pro-account and obtaining a custom host-name (e.g. www.myphotos.com), this custom host-name will never be indexed/listed by Google, because it is deemed a duplicate of the 'old' http://nickname.smugmug.com site/url.

    When obtaining a custom host-name, it would be nice that this new host-name is known to the outside world (i.e. google) instead of the 'old' http://nickname.smugmug.com.
    I can't grasp the notion of time.

    Next/Prev Gallery page links
    Here's an easy one..... currently when displaying the links to move between pages in our galleries, you provide the following links:

    gallery pages: < 1 2 3 4 >

    Could you modify these links to look like the links you have for moving between images?

    < Prev 11 of 39 Next >

    just add the word Prev and Next to the < and > symbols. It is much easier to get the mouse over the bigger link rather than just the single > characterthumb.gif

    Can we have a way to change the pubdate in the RSS feeds? I have been trying out a RSS email service and it looks at the pubdate field to detect changes to the feed. If the date does not change, it does not detect the changes.

    After reading the RSS specifications it appears that the pubdate is supposed to change when the content changes. SM uses a lastbuilddate that is optional and is ignored by other services.

    There are several of us that are trying to implement a subscription email notification feature that depends on this feature.
