Yup, seriously Zac, you might as well be balling up money and burning it. I don't care how good you are at finding deals on synthetic oil online, you are wasting your money! And if that's not good enough, Lee is also right in that the synthetic may actually do more harm than good for a 17yo engine that wasn't designed for it. Unless you've changed all the seals yourself, they may actually have negative reactions to the additives in syn.
Syn won't harm an engine. If you have existing leaks it'll leak more and then your wasting your money, but if you've got good compression and no leaks with dino use synthetic oil. I'm not a big fan of Syntec to tell you the truth, but it's not too bad. Mobil 1 is the best mainstream oil. Amsoil is maybe a hair better, but maybe not.
I didn't even know there was a car talk thread. I have to say, I'm a bit saddened to find it's mostly "dewd my cizzare roxorz teh big one 11!!!!!"
Also, you guys should lay off NASCAR. There's a lot more to it than you may thing. It's no coincidence that Casey Mears was one of the drivers on the winning team in the 24 hours of Daytona.
No, but the point is, it ain't doing you any good on an old engine that wasn't necessarily designed to benefit from its properties. Don't, I repeat, do not get me started on fluid properties, this would become a nerd talk thread, really, really fast. I may not know all about engines, but I do know about fluids, 'specially viscous ones.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying our new cars. Who invited the party pooper?
There was what, 1 post about NASCAR and all of a sudden we should lay off? I think you need a donut, cheer you up a bit.
Alright thanks for the advise on the synthetic. I have 165-170 compression across all but meh I could better spend my money on crack .
Now for that carpet. What a fugly piece of trash! I'm going to take my seats out in the spring and give it a good shampooing and see what that does.
Auto? Meh. I bought the car for half of what they usually sell for so I can't complain. I might nab up a 5 spd convertible towards the end of summer anyway.

Shampoo is better! I go on first and clean the hair!
You go through cars faster than me (or at least former me of pre-5 years ago)!

Doc remember who you are talking to... This is nancysso after all. He thinks driving on a deserted road is supposed to be like driving in a demolition derby.

That is such a hard concept for people to understand but google is such an amazing tool. Whenever I have a problem with a car I can always find the answer online. Can't find the part anywhere, you haven't looked online. Same for languages. Learned this because of looking up information on my nissan. It's hard to read the japanese sites if you can't find a translator online or know some japanese.
Sure. The gas pedal is that little one on the right. Press it down hard
You may be joking but I think thats exactly how you're supposed to do it with AWD. With the RWD car I used the throttle to steer most of the time, but AWD is totally different and I am still getting used to driving it on the road.

We're a little less harsh here, but we'd like folks to search first if they could
Searching, like reading, is hard...

First auto-x of the season is on Saturday!
Does anyone have any tips for me on autoxing an AWD car?
Zzzzip! Flame suit on.
If I were you I'd stay in on Saturday, and spend the day at the library on Campus, studying

1/ Apologise to my father.
Thanks. 4.7L V8 is under the hood. I didn't opt for the Hemi...too much on insurance and gas (same goes for 4 wheel drive).
I can use it for both. we use it a lot to go camping.
Turn the front wheels in the direction you wish to proceed! Works with my AWDs:):
FIxed it for ya, Ian.

Thanks bro!
I said it half in jest and half in what I've learned as a new AWD driver. If in
doubt, stab it!
