And how can I take your advice about preventing swirl marks seriously? Look at your frickin license plate!!

Don't pee on it. The ph of urine is inconsistent and sometimes acidic. Can be very bad for the finish :D

1985 380SE. Bought by my dad for my mom when I was born. He doesn't normally keep cars that long, but I love the car and have upkept it myself since I was about 12.
That's original paint btw. Once that engine goes (hopefully after I graduate from here and after I graduate from law school God willing) I'll be putting in a euro 500 running straight pipes (245hp) fire ring the head gasket, run 12psi of boost with methanol water injection (445hp), put in some H&R springs, a fresh set of Bilsteins, and shod it with 18 inch lightweight BBS wheels.

Too bad I didn't know about this. I had a great running 5.0L V8 from my 1985 500SEL. I sold the whole car to a lady in AZ for $1500. Shipping was $1000 by itself rolleyes1.gif

Man, either that was in bum condition or you got a bum deal. In the DC area a nice condition 500SEL will get you $4-5k. But then, my plan is assuming a non-converted engine. Most euro models were converted on import. They still had the higher compression, but most of the other stuff was NA-ized.

It had bad hail damage. It could only be seen up close though. Also had some rust spots. Oh and 240,000mi on the engine. And 10mpg city 15mpg highway (main reason why I sold it)

    Yeah I did.
    Initial investment: $500
    New back window: $200
    Gas for 6 months: $1100
    Sold for: $1500

Losing $300 in 6 months on a car including gas is pretty darn good.

Where'd you get a back window for $200? Mine is starting to delaminate, so I'll be looking that gun down the barrel soon, and what I find is closer to $650.

Oh, when you said new back window I thought you meant new as in unused, not new as in replacement. Yeah I know I have a W126...and yeah there are some good forums (though the best is not so much a forum as an e-mail list: mbcoupes.com. ritter and easley has a good list too) and www.pgauto.com is the best benz junk yard out there....just that when I do it I want it to be new new. La de friggin da, I know.

You said you're 20 right? So you've had 4 years of license possession, yet you've had 2 bmw's (that I know of) and a benz. I understand why you got rid of the benz, but how can you go through these other cars so fast? Seriously, I don't know anybody else who's 20 who's had as many cars as you, and I know kids who crash em.

Wait, I thought you said you never crashed...but it would make sense since you've been getting your chops busted about your driving.
    So...you BMWCCA?

headscratch.gif You where behind the wheel right?

See I was hoping everyones flaming of you would have got this stuck in your head.

An accident is a sink hole swallowing your SUV. An accident is a tree falling on your car. People use accident tooo freely.

Sliding on black ice and loosing control is poor skill. It's nothing to be ashamed of (and it is something to be made fun of). It is something that is just a poor skill that can be improved on.

My first car was destroyed because I didn't have the skills to operate a full size cargo van that was FR with no weight in the back, on wet roads, with no ABS. It was my fault cause of a skill I lacked and it is a mistake that will never happen again. I made sure of that with practice.

My second and last crash wasn't an accident, it was a lack of mental fortitude to be behind the wheel of the person who caused it. I was driving through a parking lot and some kid came flying out between two parked vans and couldn't see anything on either side. He was doing at least 10mph and didn't have time to react to anything. It was his fault for not paying attention to what was going on around him. I saw him to late to avoid getting hit but had the skill to stay in control and position the car (that I had only had for 24 hours rolleyes1.gif) so that instead of him pushing the drivers door into my lap he took out my rear quarter. If I had had a faster car I could have gotten out of his way completly but with a 4 cylinder lebaron.......
