I believe so... I can see my pictures, but can't do anything with them. I'm also unable to login.
It would be real nice if they could post a solid time when the site will be back up.
This banner has been at the top of the site for the past 5+ hours:
"The Sorcerers of Smug are adding new magic right now, so we're in window shopping mode. You can view all the photos you like, but for a few minutes we're unable to sell prints or take new photos or comments. Stay tuned! The SmugMug team"
We're back online. Thanks all for your patience during our scheduled mainteance window - sorry it took a little longer than we expected!
Andy,
I'm still unable to add new photo galleries. The dialog window appears but no "enter/send" button for initiating the process. Many logo's are "faded-out" which leads me to believe the website isn't fully functional as yet. This was at 8:50 AM EDT, 9/26/08.
Whoops, I just refreshed the page and it looks OK. Sorry for the "false" alarm.
Things are looking up. :thumb "Today is the first day of the rest of your life."
Sending the emails is not a trivial thing, but I'd love it if we could. I know the Ops guys would, too. We can't always do that. I'll run a few more ideas by the guys after things settle down today.
It's not trivial? As I mentioned, you *did* recently send a note about Talk Like A Pirate Day/new merchandise to news@smugmug.com.
Seems like people who have opted-in to that list might be interested in an upcoming 5+ hour outage where their websites look really really broken (not read-only, no cute cartoons).
For the SmugMug Status Update Blog, I don't have good solution to the feedburner email lag, does anyone? We've been talking about that here, too. I do know that if you have subscribed to the feed in your feed reader, you'll have it as soon as we post it.
Yeah, that's why RSS sucks for information that needs to be *pushed*.

Darryl: "I'll run a few more ideas by the guys after things settle down today." Give us some time, k? Thanks!
Not all of us are using the site "in the wee hours" .. I am in Hawaiia and do most of my photography work during others wee-hours... I do understand the need on your end though... it just caught me at a time I was doing some serious work on my site and need to complete by morning... HSTime!
I am also on the other side of the world (New Zealand) where it's already Friday & Halloween & the "quiet time" is actually around 5pm - 10pm now and still down. Was in the middle of customising my smugmug for the first time too.... will save it for tomorrow!

Hey, does anybody have a screenshot of the "SmugMug is in read-only mode, blah blah blah" that you put up during downtimes like that?
One of the parents at my son's school was trying to upload on Thursday, and gave up in frustration. and I think she was just using the Simple uploader, so she should've seen the message, but she claims she didn't.
I was going to send a note to all the parents to beware of uploading Thursday nights, but if I could attach a screenshot of what exactly to look for, that would be even swell-er.
Also, the image of the computers in the desert for more dire downtimes would be nice as well.
