No engine sound, much of the tape has either been sped up or slowed down, and the guys not even that good of a driver (it's faster to make it around a turn without bringing the tail out of line children, learn to setup tire pressures to counter-act handling problems).

Ok Heir Snobmeister (sp?), not all types of driving are simply about speed. Ever think that part of the thrill of drifting IS IT IS FUN AND EXCITING. Geez man just cause you don't get it doesn't mean it's the wrong way to do it.

You wanna drift? Get a drift car. He wasn't even drifting anyways, he was just bringing the tail out for a second.

Didn't watch the video so don't know. But just trying to point out some people actually do that on purpose cause they like it. I may not like those big triple decker picnic table wings they put on civics, but if the owner likes it, does it matter how I feel?

No, but that doesn't mean you aren't allowed to judge it.

Forget a cage match, set the time, date, and find a track, supply us with two identical cars, and may the one with the most skills & talent win.

Oh and can we not tell my gf about the race, she seems to have some silly idea that if I race I'm gonna get hurt and for some reason she finds that objectionable.

Meh, I can't really because of time constraints, but if you're ever near Charlotte on a Thursday holler and we can have some fun at the 1/8 mile track. Granted, it would be meaningless because the cars would be different and it's straight line in a road car, but it'd still be fun.

I like those little Lotuses, but it's not like they aren't making more of them is it (that's a question)?

BTW, why can't they use a 2 post lift?

Whether they are or aren't making more of them isn't the point. The point is a mans pride and joy was stomped on by some careless twit. And a beautiful car was destroyed because someone was to lazy to RTFM.

No, I hear you, but it's not as if it was like one of the old Esprit's or something like that.

So...do you know why they can't go up on lifts?

It's not that they can't go up on lifts, it's that there is a specific way to do it. They are an extremely light car and they are mid (rear) engine. That means the weight is balanced a specific way. And if they don't use the right lift points then stuff like that happens.

In other words they didn't balance the car on the lift properly, they lifted the car, took off the tire, and the weight different was enough to cause the front end to bounce up and the back end to slide off the lift and onto the floor.

Nice hatch. I've got two questions: How much at the stealership and how much at the pump? More than likely I'd still rather have an A3 at the end of the day, even if it is FWD.

Mmm, saw that linked in from Miata.net. Breaks yer heart, doesn't it? I'm glad to see it was totaled. I'm not sure I'd want a patched Elise back either.

I'll confess, I have an abnormal soft spot for anything w/ the Lotus badge. Dad was a big english sports car nut and I was actually named after the maker's founder.

I about creamed my pants when I went to my first SCCA auto-x recently.. where there were THREE Elises present. bowdown.gif
The interior of that Miata looks hot.
Thank you, I strongly agree! I can't get over how clean this car is, considering it has spent its entire life here in New England.
Don't take this the wrong way, but you so don't look like a Miata guy.
Uh, thanks I think... Based on most of the 'rep' I've heard the Miata gets I would think that statement could be a compliment.

Got the big fat layoff yesterday. 9 weeks on the new gig and they showed me and half the rest of the development staff the door. The upside is I was so pissed I just left.. and that gave me time to finally get to City Hall while they were open and register and put plates on the new queen.. So she is once again street legal.

Well, it's sorta neutral. Miata guys I know tend to be what I would call new age. If I saw a photo of you I would guess 1968 Camaro RS

I'd take one. Not sure it'd be a good commuter though.

I like multipurpose vehicles. Someday I'll have a garage full of toys, one each for the various purposes. Until then I need vehicles that do many things simultaneously. The truck is obviously very utilitarian. The argument behind the Miata is that it is both fun to drive AND affordable. They are nice compliments for each other.

    Besides, I couldn't afford a Porsche! :D

Thanks guys re the layoff bit. Sooner or later everyone in my biz has to get tagged by the whole out-sourcing/off-shore bit. It was just my turn.

Things look promising though, my phone and inbox have both been hopin'!

That's horrible! What sight to see when all you wanted was some new tires. The Lotus Esprit is still one of my favorite cars ever. Not wild about how the Elise looks, but it's pure sports car.

At least it wasn't a Ferrari Enzo... mwink.gif
