Cat A Day (to compliment the pooch thread)

I just love the Dog A Day thread! However, I have 2 beautiful cats as pets (no room for a dog just yet) and am starting a thread to compliment the Dog A Day thread. I searched, and there's nothing of the sort already (unless I missed it, sorry!)

So - have at it! Post your pics of your favorite feline friends :D

    Sasha "Ping" and Chloe "Pong"
They came as a sister pair from the Humane Society as Ping and Pong, here they are 15 weeks old.

Here's Webster (fun with PS and eyes)
(he was lose as a kitten in our neighborhood...so we trapped, tamed and kept him)

    Here's Tora
(his mom got sick, so we raised him along with his brothers/sisters with doll bottles until mom got better...kept him)

And the only little girl, Abbey
(she was left in our car one day...so she stayed)

I have a cat, too. She really suffers from lack of attention with two big dogs in the house. Fortunately, she was happy to help me test out my new lens!

yeah, I think I needed them much more than they needed me though.

Here's Sombra --- she was just 6 weeks old when she washed up in my back yard during an out-of-sorts rainstorm in May last year. We have lots of ferral cats in the complex, and lots of nasty little kittens. I saved this one, only b/c she was so tired and hurt she let me get near her. I fostered her, and my Sasha and Chloe helped teach her lots of cool kitty things (like drinking from the water dish, what cuddles are, how to play nice and not bite). She's now living with a grandmother/granddaughter pair somewhere in Tucson, and I heard she's doing good.

Someday, when I have a house with a spare room...I'll probably foster kittens, it was very rewarding.

Those two are so cute! I take the cat and dog pictures for my local shelter, so I love to hear stories about rescued pets. There are days at the shelter when it is SOOO hard not to come home with a new pet!

I just want to bury my face in Tora's fur! I love sleeping cats.

Abbey looks like she has some cool markings (off-yellowish/tan) swirling on her face? Sweet!

    Thanks for posting!

Trying to keep this thread alive here.

I got a new cat on Saturday and he is a Russian Blue. His owners didn't want him anymore and were going to put him down but a friend of a friend of mine saved him and now I have him.
    98031260-L.jpg

Here he is getting a warm welcome from my other cat Molly. And no I haven't named him yet. Any suggestions?

beautiful eyes! Though, I will have to say that he's not a true Russian Blue --- they have green eyes. And looking at his coat, looks like some brown overtones and very very faint blackish/dark striping (in your other photo). RB coats look gray with blue overtones if in the right light. So, I don't think he's a Russian Blue, though one of his parents might have been :) If he does have RB in him, he will be a real gentle cuddle-bug just waiting for your approval and attention...so sweet! My sister had a brother-sister pair of Blue Russians and they were incredibly soft and very very sweet.

Thanks for keeping the thread alive!

It's so awesome you saved him from certain death!

geez, love those dark amber eyes!!!!

I think you are right. He does have dark striping but it is pretty faint. I'm sure he is not a pure bred but I think he at least has some in him. His previous owners adopted him from the Chicago ASPCA so he was probably a stray or mistreated. Then they adopted him and were going to put him down. Makes no sense. But now he has a good home. He is always by my side and is a great cuddler. Now if he and Molly would just get along it will be a great situation for us all. I still haven't picked out a name yet.

I'll keep that in mind. I am horrible at naming pets. So far my friends have suggested Ashtray and McQuarters (formerly of the Bears). I don't think they are trying to hard to help me though because I am currently trying to quit smoking and I hate McQuarters with a passion.

Here's Samara. She's an incredibly patient cat with our 14.5 month old. I can't believe what she puts up with without running away. They really love playing together. Gareth even pulls the stick around for her to chase.

    98515963-L.jpg

She also really enjoys chasing her tail in difficult places (like the handlebars of the stroller). Only a couple of months old here, she's about 1-year old herself now.

I love this and the dog thread! You guys really bring out the emotions of these animals, and your photos are just so inspiring!

This is our cat, Claus. He is also a rescue... and I love him so much! He has gotten fat, I assume it is because he knows nothing really as his mother had little to no impact on him. He is purely an inside cat (declawed) and is not very active I am afraid.

Hope you enjoy... :P These are from my very first batch with my new XTi... I used the Canon 50mm f/1.8 at ISO 800 or 1600 (I forget)
