Howdy from California
Hi, I'm Judy :curtsey I live in California and I'm new to photography. I'm hoping to broaden my photographic horizons and I'd appreciate any and all comments and critique on my work.
here's me!
I'm a canadian, living in OZ for a couple years, got lots of pics to share with family & friends back home. A cousin of mine turned me on to SmugMug. I was previously hosting a simpler web-site off my home pc, but I love the functionality provided by SM . Thought I might get into some of the challenges over here on dgrin, and as such, it might be good for me to introduce myself.
Cheers,
Ian.

although I've made a couple of posts I wanted to come here and "de-lurk" myself. I'm loving the "smugmug expirience" much to my fiancee's dismay.
I'm amazed with customizations possible here and I'm happy to finally put myself on the web after many years of putting it off.
I don't remember if I've said "hi" in this thread yet, but don't think so... and I know I haven't posted a picture of myself.
This was taken by my younger son this afternoon, we were just sitting in the den talking about school (and his photography class) and he picked up my 10D and started shooting.
Another member of the club! Just wanted to say and to introduce the newest member of the Digital Grin family. I have an account at www.SunDiegoStudios.smugmug.com. Hop on and see what I'm all about and maybe even look at my pictures. I'd really like some feedback/comments left on my site letting me know what you like or dislike.

Hi, I'm Jim and I'm new to Digital Grin : My wife, 2 Lhasa's and 2 Shih Tzus live in Bennington, VT... We own Sony R1,H1, 828, 717 & W7, we do drag racing photography for a hobby. Just purchased a HP 130 Designjet large format printer. Photos can be seen at: http://photosbyjim.smugmug.com/. Also belong to DPReview STF(Sony Talk Forum)...
Wow, Graphy, two expensive hobbies! Would that be a Orvis Battinkill LA reel?? Cant tell but probably a matching Orvis rod too?
Nice big mouth (and brown) you're holding.
I recently gave up the flyfishing - got bad shoulders and the backcasts were getting harder. Anyway, easier to cary around a dslr with medium tele. And could only afford one dollar-draining hobby.
I knew, of course, that trees and plants had roots, stems, bark, branches and foliage that reached up toward the light. But I was coming to realize that the real magician was light itself.

Here I sit in ol' Fanta Se, relaxing with a cool drink after givin' this sweet little 400F an afternoon workout on some curvy roads near here. Perhaps unfortunately I let someone on another website talk me out of the bike a while back, so this is my memory.
At Andy's invitation, after getting some advice from him last week, I have joined your ranks, and so far I'm glad to be here!
I am a freelancer with a day job that unfortunately is not in the photography field, but I hope that will change someday soon. I started as a reporter for a local weekly newspaper, and had to be my own photographer, so I've been at this a while, but I just launched the freelance business in Oct. 2004. I do weddings, fine art and pet portraits, and I have been very pleased with the response in the year and a half or so that I have been "official." I enjoy any photography, but pets are my favorite. You can check out my smugmug gallery here: http://vividvisions.smugmug.com
I have had a pro gallery since Sept. 2005, and I'm so glad I found Smugmug!
I am a member of DPReview where I usually participate in the Konica Minolta forums and the Retouching forums. I imagine I will be joining the Sony forum in a few months, too.
My gear is all Minolta or Konica Minolta, except for an Olympus Stylus that I use for skiing and the beach because it is weather resistant. My main camera is the Konica Minolta 7D, and my back-up is the A2, but I hope to add another 7D to my arsenal when I get a couple of extra bucks. My film camera is a 1989 Minolta 7000i, but I barely use it anymore.

So, OK. Here's a look see at me (the guy with the FOREHEAD) and the rest of my little brood (alas for my wife, ayy?!)
Took this photo last week. I was expirimenting with black and white. My kids deserted me so I was all I had left.:tough
