    I uploaded some pics and noticed that hey are in the Inquyeue status. Is there a slow upload to SmugMug this evening? I just got home earlier this evening from a weekend at the lake and wanted to upload some pics.
    Yes, it's a bit slow tonight, sorry. They will upload, for sure, but they'll take longer tonight.

    We apologize for the hassle :(

    Thanks for the heads up guys. Was thinking it was just slow on my end (blasted slow cable connection internetses!)

    How to enter a SmugBug
    oxy8384 wrote:
    How should we fill in the milestone, assigned-to, priority, and severity fields? A little documentation with some basic guidelines would probably really cut down on the amount of time you need to spend re-assigning and re-prioritizing things. I'd feel better if I thought my ratings matched your expectations.
    (Less scolding and all that. ;^) )

    Thanks,

    Hi Bill wave.gif

    About the bug reporter. Click on 'new SmugBug', you don't need to do the 'full SmugBug' one.

    Summary
    : as short and clear as possible, use a few keywords if you have to.

    Priority: a bit of a judgement call. If the bug affects only you, or you can not replicate it anywhere else, or on another account, a one-off thing will be priority 'low'. If it affects all users, and you can replicate it, make it 'medium'. If it is causing you or us to loose money, or takes a ridiculous large amount of time to fix every time the bug occurs, make it 'high'.

    Severity: 'normal'. If it needs to be different, I'll change it.

    Assigned to: me, ivar

    Browser: select a specific browser if it happens only in that specific browser. If it happens for all browsers, select 'all'.

    Milestone: 'live'

    Description: Write the complete description of the bug here. If you can replicate the bug, please list step by step how to replicate it. That way we can do exactly what you did to see the bug as well. Write as much as you want here, anything that you can think of may help us to fix the problem! Also, please make sure that you give us either a link to your account, or an email address here, so we can contact you if we are having problems replicating the bug.

    I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

    Can't do it
    Ivar,
    That was very helpful. Unfortunately, your user ID is not listed in the assigned-to dropdown.

    Of course, if it were me, I wouldn't want my name there, either!:D

    Maybe it was a glitch. ne_nau.gif

    As for the login: Yes, it's optional, but it's nice to get notified if something changes about the status of the bug reports. Even though you probably can enter an email address for notification as a guest, I find it more convenient with an account. Also a while ago an account was necessary to post.

    The SmugMug wiki accounts are not used at all anymore at this time. If you want to be notified of changes, no problem! Click on 'New Full SmugBug' when you enter the bug, or after you have entered the bug, edit the bug and add your email address to the fields for 'notify on change' and/or 'notify on resolution' thumb.gif

    They have a good use: You see who changed something on a page when he had an account. mwink.gif

    Yeah and I've noticed that you put the priority of my long reported bug even lower than low, because I had entered my mail address. Well, I've never researched if this bug is also true for other deleted photos, but suspect it. Has anyone of the team tried to reproduce it yet? Maybe I should run some more test, but I'm kind of tired of that bug still floating around after a year, while the friend of mine or other people check on her photos every month or so, always entering the site through the deleted photo via google. rolleyes1.gif

    Hi Sebastian, I'm sorry the bug is still around. There is two parts of this bugreport. The showing caption, or not showing image is one; There is just not enough info to do anything with that in the bugreport. We are aware of it, but have not enough data to see why it is happening. BTW, have you tried deleting that photo again? Just click photo tools -> delete photo, like you normally would. Does that work?

    The URL part, is a cool request, so I made it a feature request, or as it is called in the BugReporter "WouldBeNice". Not 'lower' but different. All bugs and feature requests are important to us!

    Hi Ivar,
    thanks for your answear which is the first really helpful feedback I've gotten on this 'bugcluster' so far! I was really getting frustrated with this thing everytime I see it, because nobody ever told me that there was not enough data to reproduce it. Your response actually cheered me up for a change concerning this topic.
    That's the way to go - always give feedback to the bugreporter if you're getting nowhere with the problem that has been reported! This helps to keep the reporter at hand and keeps him interested in reporting new stuff and it also gives you perhaps more valueable information on the problem.

    Best wishes from Leipzig, Germany,
    Sebastian

    PS: I'll add additional info when I find more on it.

    EDIT: I can change the caption, but deleting doesn't do a thing.

    Issues with IE and Galleries not showing images
    Howdy, smugmug support. I've recently come across two different issues, one of which I think is a bug.

    First, I've been completely unable to access any of my galleries using IE. But it's unlike any problem I've encountered before, which would suggest it's more than just faulty Java or CSS. I can navigate through my main page, and to the gallery pages, but when I click on a single gallery, I immediately get the IE default error page. I went through 15 or so galleries today and none of them would show any pictures using IE.

    Second, and more problematic, I've got a gallery that repeatedly says I don't have any images in it, when I've uploaded images into it several times. Sometimes it actually works and confirms that I'm right because I'll have two or three copies of the same image from re-uploading them. But for some reason, most commonly it shows that I don't have any images in there. The gallery is under "galleries", then "prints" then "16X20's".

    Any ideas?

    Thank you in advance for your help.

    Very Respectfully,

    So seriously, you have z-indexes set at 999 and 99 for your various menus. That is what is causing the issue you see. Did you have to do that to get them to work?

    No sorry. I looked and you're right, no photos. Is this both logged in and not logged in?

    Did you check in your control panel >> photos uploaded: view log? Does it
    show any uploaded to that gallery?

    Eric,
    your customizations has the following problem. In your theme you have CSS code, JavaScript and footer code mixed into one. I'll try to sort you out.

    First off all clean out your theme and just put the following code into it:
    #userHome {
      display: none;
    }

    .possess {
      display: none;
    }

    .categoriesBox .boxTop {
      display: none;
    }

    .title {
      color: grey;
    }

    #feeds {
      display: none;
    }

    .box {
      background-color: black;
    }

    .top_border, .bottom_border {
      border: 0px;
    }

    .left_border, .right_border {
      border: 0px;
    }

    .categoriesBox .boxTop {
      display: none;
    }

    #userName {
      display: none;
    }

    .loginLink {
      display: none;
    }

    .cartlink_footer {
       display: none;
    }

    a.title, .title, .imgBorderOn {
      color: grey;
    }

    Put the next bunch in the JavaScript section:
    function norobotmail(aUser, aDomain) {
           document.location = "mailto:" + aUser + "@" + aDomain;
    }

    rightClickWarning ="All images are © Eric Stephen Vorm Photography. If you are interested in obtaining a commercial or personal user license please click the 'contact Eric Stephen Vorm' link below."

    var vanityTable = {
      	"newport" : "http://ericstephenvorm.smugmug.com/gallery/1859616",
      	"hawaii" : "http://ericstephenvorm.smugmug.com/Landscapes/228993",
      	"tulsa": "http://ericstephenvorm.smugmug.com/Landscapes/228995",
      	"michigan": "http://ericstephenvorm.smugmug.com/Landscapes/228994"
    };

    function CheckRedirects() {
      var path = window.location.pathname.toLowerCase().substr(1);
      var newURL = vanityTable[path];
      if (newURL != undefined) {
    	window.location = newURL;
      }
    }

    Replace your body tag-field with the next thing:
    <body onload="delHover();">

    That goes into your header section (remove the two bold asteriks from the script tag):
    scrip[B]*[/B]t type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
    CheckRedirects();
    </script[B]*[/B]>

    And finally this stuff goes into your footer (again remove the two bold asteriks):
    <div align="center">
    <img src="http://ericstephenvorm.smugmug.com/photos/93374059-L.jpg" width="468" height="60">
    </div> <p align="center">
      <a href="javascript:norobotmail('eric_stephen_vorm', 'yahoo.com')">Contact Eric Stephen Vorm</p>

    <scrip[B]*[/B]t type="text/javascript">
      var objElement = document.getElementById("galleryTitle")
      if (objElement != null)
      objElement.innerHTML = "";
    </scrip[B]*[/B]t>

    Hope that helps,

    Sebastian,

    Thank you for your help. Unfortunately, that only made it worse. I think the body tag and header sections now have issues. My slide show is not showing up anymore.

    To answer your question, allen, yes, it occurs logged in and out. Yes, I've checked the log. There are three images in that gallery. If I click "add photos" and then cancel the loader, suddenly I will have a gallery full of images.

    I'm sorry that your page is still not working. The header problem was my fault. You have to add the missing "<" in front of the script-tag I marked underlined and again remove the two asteriks:
    [U]<[/U]scrip*t type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
    CheckRedirects();
    </scrip*t>

    Your body tag section seems fine, but you still have to *replace* the whole theme with the code from my last posting as it still contains all the code that doesn't belong there.

    Also you seem to have removed your code from the footer that starts the slideshow. Try adding this code to your footer (don't replace anything there, just add the code) - you have to remove the 2 bold asteriks again and have to put in your gallery number for bold x-characters:
    <scrip[B]*[/B]t type="text/javascript">
      /* required slideshow variables */
      slideshowContainerId = "mySlideShow";
      slideshowUrl = "http://ericstephenvorm.smugmug.com/gallery/[B]xxxxxx[/B]";

      /* optional slideshow variables */
      /* see properties section */
      slideHeight="400";
      slideWidth="640";

      loadSlideshow ();
    </scrip[B]*[/B]t>

    If you need fast support you should mail the helpdesk http://smugmug.com/help/emailreal.

    Here's a Control Panel issue:

    The link to "view log" (the upload log) takes me to

    http://www.smugmug.com/homepage/uploadlog.mg

    rather than

    http://USERNAME.smugmug.com/homepage/uploadlog.mg

    so when I click an image to view the gallery it's in, it takes me to

    www.smugmug.com/gallery/XXXXXX

    and not

    scwalter.smugmug.com/gallery/XXXXXX

    so all of my customization is hidden.

    IIRC, it didn't use to work this way.

    Usability buglet in new add photos pop-up
    I was trying to use the new add photos popup menu today and found a disconcerting usability bug. Here's how to reproduce:
    • Click on the Add Photo button
    • Wait for the gallery listing to present itself
    • Hover over a category. In my gallery, I hovered over "Sports". The pull-right pop-up comes up with a list of galleries n the Sports category.
    • Now slowly slide the mouse to the right towards the secondary popup.
    • Right before the mouse gets to the ">" symbol at the right edge of the top level menu, the 2nd level menu disappears. This is the bug. It shouldn't disappear at this point.
    • Keep sliding the mouse to the right a little more and put it over the ">" symbol. Now the 2nd-level popup menu comes back and you can navigate into it.
    • If the 2nd level menu has sub-categories in it, the same behavior happens with their popups.
    Because you can't click on the first menu and make the second menu sticky, you are forced to slide the mouse over carefully and it's very disconcerting when the place you're trying to get to (the 2nd level popu) disappears as you drag. You tend to think that you must have dragged out of the line you wanted to stay in, but that isn't the case - it just goes away until you drag some more.

    Is this a YUI bug?

    Here's a screenshot that illustrates the issue:
    162288950-O.jpg

    With the mouse cursor in locations 1 and 2 (on the green bar), the 2nd-level popup is up. With the mouse cursor in location in location 3, the 2nd-level popup goes away. If your mouse starts anywhere but all the way right, you have to go through location 3 to get to the pop-up and that means the pop-up has to go away before it can come back again so you can put the mouse into it. Not a disaster, but pretty disconcerting and certainly not how anyone would want it to work.

    Here's a screenshot that illustrates the issue:

    With the mouse cursor in locations 1 and 2 (on the green bar), the 2nd-level popup is up. With the mouse cursor in location in location 3, the 2nd-level popup goes away. If your mouse starts anywhere but all the way right, you have to go through location 3 to get to the pop-up and that means the pop-up has to go away before it can come back again so you can put the mouse into it. Not a disaster, but pretty disconcerting and certainly not how anyone would want it to work.
    Thanks John I've made sure that {JT} has seen this!

    Here's a Control Panel issue:

    The link to "view log" (the upload log) takes me to

    http://www.smugmug.com/homepage/uploadlog.mg

    rather than

    http://USERNAME.smugmug.com/homepage/uploadlog.mg

    so when I click an image to view the gallery it's in, it takes me to

    www.smugmug.com/gallery/XXXXXX

    and not

    scwalter.smugmug.com/gallery/XXXXXX

    so all of my customization is hidden.

    IIRC, it didn't use to work this way.

    Yeah, that's a bug. I've logged it. Thanks for telling us about it!
