My mother was poking around google earth and found Isle of Staffa. So then I did little search myself and it does look very interesting, any chance we could make the visit to this little basalt isle? (I know this is extremely last minute)

Just thought I'd let you know, the BBC website weather is remarkably inaccurate for Scotland - occasionally they get it right, but not often, Which is odd as their TV weather is generally ok.
For more accurate forecasting I tend to look at the Met office and Metcheck.com. The closest location for a 5 day forecast on the met office site is Oban, the forecast of which you can find here:
Any pics from you lot yet? Come on you've been there at least 2 hours already!
Hi Tobers,
I know I'd prefer to process my pictures on a calibrated screen before sharing but here's a quicky of some of the group at some abandoned boats we stopped off by on the way to the hotel.
I am going to try holding off going through this until after I get back, but I found a most un-Scotland type canyon this evening and had to take a shot at it with the fisheye.
And the lack of rain has been really bizarre. Perhaps we should take a snap of the leftover bottles and empty Scotch glasses to prove our location. :giggle
Marc was kind enough to let me use his pano equipment for this beach pano, it was pretty harsh light but fun nonetheless.
It also illustrates the appalling weather conditions we had to endure:-
Too many images, not enough time.
Charlie
Charlie it was so great to shoot with you and you really set the bar very high. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to say bye to you or most of the group, but I hope our paths cross again. I had a wonderful week, even though I was only really functional the first day and the last day.
ah the memories.... Nice trip, enjoyed every minute of it and that showed by the extreme lack of sleep I got.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Anyways I would like to “throw” some words at everyone at the workshop. -Andy first (he did get me a camera and lots of gear after all), Thank you for all you did for me not only I owe you one but I will have a surprise for you in due time. Our morning excursion to the lighthouse at 4am was one of the most memorable moments of the trip. I hope the amount of sheep you saw will last you a lifetime, and to think that you were wondering where they were the first day.. -Sid I only have one thing to say to you: There was a storm that morning, better believe it. -Kerry I enjoyed our little shooting session by the slippery basalt (basalt that Andy doesn’t seem to care for). Get a good tripod soon and make sure you use it. -John you strike me as kind and collected as they come. You are a true adventurer at heart and would have been a good photographer if you would of taken up the sport. Best of luck with your travels. -David you lucky b@&*rd you still on Mull !!!(can I say this to a moderator without being banned?). Thank you for taking care of things for all of us. -Jim I don’t know why but I think of you as a General, there is something about your whole demeanor I guess and yes I will also remember your laugh. -Kevin as if from another time, a glimpse of old Scotland, rugged made to last in harsh conditions. You are the only one amongst us that could be with a t-shirt in the middle of winter and you handle whiskey like I do water. Thanks for all the insights on the island. -Sara aka road runner, you said you wanted wow in your pictures, I hope you found some of that if not in most of your images at the very least in the surrounding scenery of Mull. -Shmoo did you know your name comes from the Greek word schmoopoulos, true fact. You were always up too something but I couldn’t quite tell what. -Fred you were silent warrior not near as loud as the rest of us, probably you would be one of the few of us that would be welcomed back to the Isle. -Stan you are the cool cat of the bunch, you seemed quite at peace taking things in. -Charlie sneaky little guy. I don’t know what everyone else thinks but I think he should be banned from all future workshops. Why? Ah no reason really other then he depressed our friend Sid, although the official ban should state illegal use of camera and lenses to capture great scenes. -Kathy also should be banned for no good reason Charlie will need company. But if you promise to take Andy shopping next time I guess we could lift the ban. -Sorry I can’t remember this guy’s name; ah I’ll call him Sheep-Fish. Cool dude though to bad he didn’t get it, the whole thing about being in nature and photography I mean. Keep it up it will come to you one day, persistence is the key. People just get stuck in a Rut what can you do…If you ever need help, for you I will offer you my workshop free of charge, don’t hesitate to ask. Kidding aside thank you I learned a lot in such short time and I’m most grateful for everything you taught me Marc. One last thing, you owe it to yourself to visit the motherland one of these days. No not Germany, besides Germans descend from? ……..Exactly Thanks everyone this was a memorable trip.

I can't read these words without hearing it in your voice and seeing your hand motions. Am I Greek, too? I never got to ask that. I bet my parents will be shocked to find out.
A great time, thanks to everyone who was there and made it possible. And I'm not going to ban you for the language because around these parts, David Marc and Andy pull rank!
I am uploading my snapshots this weekend, and will post the link soon. Not touching the real photos until I've cooled off a bit.
-Kerry I enjoyed our little shooting session by the slippery basalt (basalt that Andy doesn’t seem to care for). Get a good tripod soon and make sure you use it.
Like Schmoo, I can totally hear your voice when reading your words now and am "thirsty" to visit the motherland (yes, I am making the finger-wiggly movement). :giggle
I promised Andy I'd post photos of my crappy tripod after I've run it over (and after I've bought a better one to replace it).
Definitely sorry I didn't have a chance to say goodbye to everyone. Hope to see you all again soon!

And the Metcheck forecast for Tobermory can be found here:

If they contradict each other, the one with the worst forecast is the most accurate
Metcheck tends to under estimate wind speed and over estimate the frequency of precipitation.

Hey one day without rain out of the week shouldn't be that bad.. right??
I hope you guys get to see the Border Collies in action! Those dogs can put the hustle and bustle in sheep!

I've spent more time on beaches this week than I've ever spent in my life before. These just have slightly fuzzier local residents.
