Clue? galleries created since FSSS added work, earlier galleries don't. (Another gallery I created just yesterday does display FSSS correctly.)

    Adobe: MAC 9,0,124,0
    in Firefox/2.0.0.20

    this one runs:
    http://bensonbuergi.smugmug.com/gallery/6825879_w6Y9Q#439333432_4eSsN

    this one (for example) doesn't:
    http://bensonbuergi.smugmug.com/gallery/2402273_TtzeC#125921227_Hzy4C

    ditto for Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6)
(also, the escape button doesn't work to leave FSSS)

and in Explorer Version: 5.2.3 (5815.1) nothing happens, but it's probably a very old version. Never use it (or Safari, for that matter).

Hi NBenson. The reason the slideshow was not working for you is because the old gallery did not have SmugMungous sizes. I created them for you using Tools>Many Photos>More>Make SmugMungous Sizes. Try your old gallery again and let us know if you continue to have problems with it. I tried it in Safari and FF3 and it is now working in both for me.

Having Issues with Slideshow-> FullScreen Display
Read through the thread, have attempted as many fixes as I could find. Here are my details:

I've tested with a couple browsers, all results below:
    1) [For IE] Adobe Version: WIN 10,0,12,36 (no debug player)
[For Mozilla] Adobe Version: WIN 9,0,124,0 (no debug player)
    2) [For IE] Version 7.0.5730.11 on XP
[For Mozilla] Version 3.0.4 on XP
    3) Link: http://littlemountainphotography.smugmug.com/gallery/6840110_cePN8 (then press FullScreen button)
    4) Can be seen in both IE and Mozilla
    5) Can be seen in both IE and Mozilla
    6) [For IE] Screen mazimixes with picture, however picture is frozen and IE freezes shortly after with message that there was an issue with the Flash10a.ocx and IE terminates
[For Mozilla] Screen maximizes and plays without issue
    7) In the CSS for customization I had the statement: gallery_6840110 #breadcrumb {display: none;} , however I removed this and still had the same issue

    Side notes:
    - I disabled the FSS Hardware Acceleration and see the following:
[For IE] Initial press on Fullscreen button shows black screen with small window on top left corner, second press of the button loads the show full screen as expected
[For Firefox] Initial press on Full screen shows full screen as expected
    - I changed the gallery from Slideshow to Filmstrip (with the breadcrumb statement commented out) and the FullScreen show works just fine, displays full screen. With the statement uncommented the nav is gone (which I want) but the fullscreen button is gone (not what I would want). I could switch to this layout but would want it to look like the #5 in the original post (where it is fullscreen by default and autoplays)
    - I have my homepage modified (per SmugMug customizations in the DGrin forums) to play just a slideshow with a menu, unsure if that relates to the issue. I am also using the Earth theme across the site which in the past seems to behave differently that other themes?
    - Not using AdBlockPlus

    Thanks for the help,
    Darin

    Formatting the FSSS captions
My first post to dgrin, so please forgive any missteps. I haven't been able to spot any solutions to my issue, so here goes a first query.

I have a gallery where captions are formatted using in-line CSS/HTML tied to some CSS formatting inserted into the theme's code. For example:

    St. John's Harbor<div id="caption_tourlink" align="right"><a id="caption_tourlink" href="http://www.fieldguides.com/tours.html?area=tour&code=nsn&quot; target="_blank">More about this tour...</a><br>[photo © participant Charles Oldham]</div>

If I click on the slideshow to see the FSSS, the formatting is lost. Actually, the first formatted line, which should read "More about this tour..." kicked to a new line, as it is in the regular gallery caption, is a run-on with the unformatted caption text, so in the example above I see "St' John's HarborMore about this tour...", while the photo credit line after the <br> kicks to a new line, as expected.

I've tried inserted a <br> or <p> before the "More about this tour..." text or before the first <div>, but it makes no difference; the FSSS seems simply not to recognize the caption CSS/HTML used in the gallery it's coming from. Is there any way to control the formatting of the FSSS captions if you have formatted gallery captions?

Full-screen not working in Firefox (OK in IE)
    1. We need to know your installed flash version, for IE (if you use it) and for other browsers. WIN 10,0,22,87 (IE and FF)

    2. We need to know what browser you are using, and the version, and on what Operating System. Windows XP Professional SP3; Firefox 3.0.6

    3. We need a direct gallery link to where you are having the problem. http://cosmo51.smugmug.com/gallery/7476776_6Z4w7#482471547_qFfnc

    4. Tell us if you can use the Full Screen Slideshow here in this gallery. No

    5. Tell us if you can see the Full Screen Slideshow using this share link. No

    6. If you can see #5 and cannot see #4, can you see the full screen at Adobe's Full Screen test here.
(click the full screen mode on the left, then let the demo load, then click full screen view button on the movie).

It goes to full screen, but the movie stops.

    7. If you cannot see SmugMug's Full Screen Slideshow, or the Cars Movie Demo in full screen or the Adobe Full Screen Demo in full screen, you may have a hardware issue with full screen. Try disabling hardware acceleration in the flash player.
Hardware acceleration was already turned off.

Some of you may have all the right stuff but have customizing that is getting in the way of your Full Screen Slideshow:
    modifying the breadcrumb with javascript
having the olde javascript slideshow installed still

    No customization (by me, anyway).

Thanks, was hoping someone would see me :) I posted my specs in #273 above in case you need those. Also in that post I did some troubleshooting (included again below for ease of reference). In testing since then I have noted:
    - Issue is occuring on my XP machine. In testing on 2 different Vista machines there is not the issue (the irony, it works in Vista and not XP headscratch.gif ).

    Thanks!

No problems, thanks for the confirmation / addressing the issue. And no issues on the response time, I am quite sure you folks are busy in all the great enhancemenets I keep seeing in the announcements.

I wanted to pass on my thanks (as others feel the same way), that it's nice to be involved with a company so responsive to the needs of its clientele. I don't know the number of hours you and your team have to put in to make this happen but I don't think I'd want to work them as they must be substantial. Hats off, keep up the great work! thumb.gif

Recently, links to my slideshows have begun displaying a black border. Played via a share link, each slide occupies about 75% of full screen. Playing the same slideshow logged in as myself doesn't do this, but plays 100% full screen as desired.

I'm not using any customization -- all defaults.

Tested and verified on Google Chrome 1.0.164.55, IE 7.0.5730.13, and Firefox 3.0.10. Flash player version: WIN 10,0,22,87.

    Has anyone else seen this?

    Other config details:

    Windows XP SP3 Home Edition
Dell XPS 410, 2.4Ghz Intel Q6600 processor, 4GB RAM, 1TB WD Caviar Black SATA drive
    Video adapter: nVidia GeForce 8600GT
    nVidia driver version: 6.14.11.8208

    FSSS does not work
    Hello:
I worked through this thread but did not find any solutions:
FSSS do generally not work in either FF or Safari (3 or the new 4); i have a new installation of Flash player 10,0,22,87.
So far I found only a handful of slide shows that work for me on smugmug:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/productinfo/features/experience/

the following do not work, the slide show button is inactive:

FSSS does not work for my own galeries (colorfulballooning.smugmug.com), and the slide show button is inactive, neither does the slide show link.
Surprisingly, all FSSS work on a 3rd mac i own. Very puzzling.
    Any ideas?

no special apps or firewall just the standard, also it does not correlate with the OS or browser. I currently use Safari (3,4), FF on OSX 10.4.11 and 10.5.7 and XP. The only correlation I can see is with Flash: FSSS works on the computers with older Flash, not with the latest 10,0,22,87 installed. That may be just a coincidence though.
I am not concerned that I cannot see the FSSS ... I can live without it. What bothers me is the fact that other visitors of my pages may not be able to activate FSSS either if it is dependent on a certain computer setup. headscratch.gif

But it's not. There are/can be blocking software (adblockers), firewall stuff too, that can block flash.

    We'll keep trying.

    chscb,

Something additional to try is visit this link: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html#117717

Let it scan and then please remove all the Adobe Flash cached files it finds. Restart your computer and give one of the links another try afterwards.

I have figures out why I was unable to start FSSS:
it is a simple checkbox in the Global Storage Settings panel of the Flash Player Manager: Allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer has to be checked. It is checked by default, and I must have unchecked it on 2 of my computers.
That's it. Everything works now. Looks very nice. thumb.gif

    Kindly help me with this...
Hi Smugmug support team. I hope it is ok to post this here - please do move it if it is out of place.

I have recently started providing a slideshow tour to my clients so that when they advertise their real estate listings on their own websites, a link is embedded on their site directing them to "my" slideshow page for the given property. All this is working very well - thanks Smugmug. My problem though, and also what is happening on my clients machines is that when the slideshow plays, some photos are postcard size, others are full screen. It is not consistent. The photos are all of the same proportions at a size of 1600x 1200 when uploaded. Why will some fill the screen nicely and others are MUCH smaller? On my 19" screen it is "ok" but on my clients LCD of 24" those smaller pics become "too" small?

It happens whether we use firefox 3 or IE on both Vista and XP

    Any ideas?

    Help with a gallery
Here is the gallery in question:

    http://www.salvadorphoto.com/Photography/Embassy-Suites/11068804_3ccHb

I have it set up as slideshow (as opposed to Journal, smugmug, etc). I'd like the slideshow to work the same stretchy way the one does that's embedded in my bio page:

    www.salvadorphoto.com

Right now, the images start off small, then seem to grow to what I want after going through an arbitrary number of rotations. I can't send these to a client that way, I need his first view to be the large panoramic that he'll see at the front page of my website. Can anyone please help me with this. Please? This seems quirky. I'm on Safari 4.0.4. Not sure about flash, I think its 10,0,42,34.

Thanks very much. I hope I can figure out how to subscribe to this thread :-)

If I can't fix this, I'm planning to present the gallery in the journal style, which is still smaller than the slideshow when it's working right. is there a way to increase the size of the journal pictures?

ONE MORE THING: Please feel free to log in to my site if necessary. it's sergio@salvadorphoto.com, and I'll give you the password later.

There is no way to fix/adjust the size of the initial slideshow images. Despite several other complaints like yours (I've complained about the same thing), Smugmug seems to want it to be the way it is. It has something to do with wanting the first few images to get downloaded quicker, even if that means the initial images have to be smaller. I think it should behave consistently, even if the startup time is a little longer.

Journal (old) has fixed size images and there's little you want do to change that.

The new Journal style auto-sizes the images based on the viewable area in your browser window. Bigger browser window gets bigger images and vice versa.

Thanks for the response. The mystifying thing to me about this then is that my homepage slideshow does not have this same issue. I have a big file, and it takes time to load, but it comes in big. Journal may be the only answer, but for some reason the journal sizes are slightly smaller than the slideshow. Ugh.

1- using Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.45.2
    2 - Firefox 3.5.8, Safari 4.04, and Chrome 5.0.342.1 dev
All on both Mac Pro and Mac Book Pro running 10.6.2
    3- http://asco.smugmug.com/2009-ASCO-Annual-Meeting/2009-Annual-Friday/11430193_fgt9h#803211525_GKSJg-X2-LB
4- Yes I cab see if fine
5- Yes I can see full screen fine on all browsers
    6- Yes works fine
    7 yes works fine...

Some bit of code is stopping the slideshow button from working (in smugmug style) and the links to various resolutions as you mouse over the image and click to start the larger view do not seem to be working.

I am suspecting some code problem as I have been customizing the site with tips from Dgrin forums...

Have tried to turn off all Java that I had added, but no luck....tried striping back CSS and no change...

    Can you help?

    Thanks in advance...
