I'm getting a black box which when clicked on takes me to a slideshow of nothing that should not be there! ne_nau.gif

Clearing my cache does not fix this!
No but clearing your cookies, will, I expect. If you need help on that holler.

    Music Option? Future release?
    22 pages already headscratch.gif ?! WOW!
I guess it's nice to jump in late here....Everything works find on my site clap.gif
    so far.......

...a suggestion for a possiple future release would be the ability to add music to the slide show. I know, I know....music is a personal thing - some like it and some hate it, but I think it matches very well with a slide show. It would be nice if we had the ability to add music to the new gallary slide show feature - even if SM held the music files on the SM servers and offered us a small selection of music choices with a simple music On/Off button.

    Keep up the excellent work!

You can add music. I have done just that.. (Check out http://www.WolfSnap.com/ ) I use sonific.com for the music. Easy to use, free, and has complete instructions for smugmug.

    confused!!
    Andy wrote:
You mean "captions" which are different than "comments" - correct, there's not that option at the moment, with the full screen slideshow. You can have them with the gallery style slideshow though thumb.gif

Andy, here is a description of the update on the smugblog release notes:
The slideshow gallery style, which you get to by choosing from the pull-down menu in the upper right of gallery pages, inherited the new goodness. Turn captions on or off, choose photo sizes, and make thumbnails visible or not. Then admire silky transitions.

Am I misunderstanding what it says?? So are there captions available in the new slideshow? It sounds like there should be. I'd love this option back if it really isn't available.

Captions are available in the slideshow viewing style, but not the full-screen slideshow. I'll be sure to pass your request for captions on in the full-screen slideshow :)

    Hi,

Sorry you are having problems :(

Can we get you to hit the two links below and then let us know the information, please?

    This is javascript reporting:
    http://greenjimmy.com/flash/flashversion.html

Then there is flash actually reporting:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507

Also, let us know specifically the browser version and operating system you are using. In addition, are you running any type of security software, i.e., Norton, or any adblockers?

Sigh, on my PC laptop with XP home media version.
Using FF Firefox/2.0.0.12, the slideshow currently is not working and before it would be stuck on the first image and then it would skip about two images on to the fourth shot or so on the homepage. Gallery slideshow does not seem to work.

    Using IE 7.0.5730.11
On the homepage slidesho only some of the images will come up in the thubnail but the slideshow will not play. It's just stuck on the first image.

Gallery slideshow shows it loading up for a second, but after that, nothing.

EDIT: Seems to be fine now both in FF and IE.
EDIT II: Now neither is working again. I give up. Hope things get fixed soon.

This new slideshow is extremely buggy for me. I have IE7 running in Vista and I have many issues. In "Slideshow" view, I can't click on "Fullscreen" or "Slideshow" (nothing happens). Also, when I am in "Smugmug" view, clicking "Slideshow" takes me to a new window that freezes with the caption "Press Esc to exit fullscreen mode." 1 out of 10 times the first slide will come up, but it freezes after that. When I press Esc, I get a weird green screen that sometimes won't go away. In all other views, the fullscreen slideshow works, but it is very slow and clunky. In Firefox on Vista everything works, but again it is very slow and clunky. The "Fast" setting is way to slow, and the clicking on a thumbnail takes up to 10 seconds to display.

I appreciate all the changes that Smugmug is making to make our sites better, especially stretchy. thumb.gif But is a Zenfolio-like, super fast, super slick slideshow too much to ask? I realize this new flash slideshow has just been released, but it has a very long way to go to get to where Zenfolio already is.

I see 8 photos in that gallery. When you say empty, do you mean you are seeing no thumbs, nothing at all?

Are you running any type of firewall or security software, i.e., Norton, CA Security, etc.?

What I see is the normal gallery page, just without thumbs or a picture in the larger box.

I just re-installed Win XP and switched security from McAfee to CA. Also had to re-establish my home network. Found this thread after you mentioned CA,

    http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=61682&highlight=Computer+Associates

Appears to be the issue, though I've not the foggiest which box to check/uncheck in CA's security suite.

    Hi,

We have a 10 step method to add Smugmug as a trusted site:

    * 1. right-click on the CA icon, point to CA Personal Firewall and
    select 'open CA Personal Firewall'
    * 2. click on the big 'Privacy' icon in the left column
    * 3. make sure the 'Internet Browser Protection' tab on top of the
    settings screen is selected
    * 4. click on 'manage sites'
    * 5. click on the 'add' symbol
    * 6. enter smugmug.com in the url field
    * 7. click ok
    * 8. make sure you see 6 green checkmarks for smugmug.com
    * 9. click on close
    * 10. close the CA Personal Firewall window and enjoy using your
    SmugMug galleries
    * If you encounter any custom domain name that uses SmugMug as well
without smugmug.com in the url, repeat the steps I gave you for
this address as well to add the site to your trusted sites. That
should fix the issues you had with the software.blocking feature
was causing the the images not to load.

Thanks, the 10 steps did the job after clearing cookies. You're a gem!

Now, I'm just worried about customers that may also be using CA Security. They're not going to take the time to figure out firewall configuration and just assume Smugmug is broken. In fact, I've already had one potential customer complain that when he clicked "Buy: photo", nothing happened. Can you point me to some resources on making my pages more security friendly? I know I probably can't change the "Buy" routine.

You have no CSS, do you have a power or pro account? Only with those type
accounts can you modify your galleries besides themes.
