Re: Upload Problems?????
Hello Barb, I just sent an e-mail to the support heroes with that info but have heard back yet. Here ya go. Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. Re: Inside, the monster
I like the shot, here is what I see. A strong light source well off to the side on camera left and I suspect that was the only light source used here. Judging by the inconsistent shadows around the fingertips it looks like you might have tried to brighten the left side of the face in post. Also to me the skin tone is a bit… -

Re: Yearbook photos
I have done this sort of thing for a dance studio rather than a school. I would take: 2 lights... 1 Main with a reflective umbrella, 1 fill with a softbox. I use Alien Bees 1 Backdrop. neutral grey or a neutral earth tone. Many yearbooks specify grey. 1 adjustable stool or small chair with no back Some assembley to hang… -
Re: Shooting in a Barn
Thanks Pathfinder, I love my 70-200 2.8, so it really is my primary lens. I was probably rather funny looking when shooting the pictures of the girl on the paint horse jumping in the indoor. I had the D50 with the 70-200 (because it has fairly usable ISO 1600 shots) and then the D80 with the 50mm and the jumps were 4… -
Re: Studio portraits advice with lighting
The biggest problem with multiple lights is their ability to produce repeatable results consistantly. If you have two lights with a variability of 1/3 stop per light between shots, you can be up to 2/3 stop difference between the lights during a shot. 2/3 stop difference is more than enough to be visible. A lot of the… -
Re: dgrin meetups
There are several options As I mentioned before, there are TWO nice places very close to each other. First is Rose Valley falls, second is Piedra Blanca. Waterfalls consists of two tiers. The lower tier is like 30 ft tall water slide, all in shade of eucalyptus trees, and is located only 5 minutes aways from a… -
Re: Finally D-E1-cided
I didn't go for the battery grip. Coming from a digicam, I found the E-1 big enough as it as, and adding the battery grip added too much for me. I haven't ruled it out as a future option, but that grip doesn't come cheap... Actual images from the E-1 is what sold me in the end. I always liked the E-1, but was scared away… -
deep convolution image software does resizing
Just wanted to share this neat toy - http://waifu2x.udp.jp/ it's kind of along the same lines as neural styles, deep dream, prisma, etc, which you may have heard of before. Only rather than repeatedly trying to match images to an artistic style over many iterations, this one tries to draw clean lines and (optionally)… -
