I made a wedding category that was broken into sub-categories...(Pre-Wedding, Ceremony, Group Shots, etc.). It was easy to copy a pricelist from a previous wedding over to each one. However each sub-category does not have the same number of pictures and I can't set a "All Digital Downloads" for the downloads. Is that possible? Right now each gallery has the same gallery price set from the old wedding (which was used from the old pricelist and randomly calculated). Individual download prices are fine.
To offer different gallery download prices for different galleries, you could prepare multiple pricelists with the different download prices and then assign the appropriate pricelist to the galleries in question. It's not possible to automate this based on the number of photos in a gallery.

Here's the thing (and let me know if I'm wrong)...I have the prices I want for photos/merchadise/individual downloads. I only want to change the prices for "Download all photos" in this gallery (in my case it would be my sub-categories). So I have to create new pricelists to change 1 simple thing (didn't have to do this in the old pricing scheme)?

Have you played around with it a bit? Under the old way, you'd have to go into ten different galleries to make a change. Now, you change or create a new pricelist and simply apply it to the ten different galleries. For you at this point this might seem like too much work but where will you be in ten years?

In ten years you could have 3000+ galleries and one simple price change on a pricelist would require you to go into 3000+ galleries individually. I don't know about you, but I'd rather have to click on thumbnails to apply a new pricelist to those 3000 galleries than to have to go into them individually and then hit save. Then use the breadcrumb to find the next gallery, open pricelist, make change, save, repeat all over again. 2988 more to go.

Only thing that would save you time at that point would be being able to apply a pricelist to a whole category, sub-category, or sub-sub-category with one click versus clicking on all gallery thumbnails. (Suggestion #3 from my post above).

The best way to adjust the pricelists for gallery downloads is to have SM apply a per picture price to the gallery download which could be different than the individual price per picture in that same gallery. If that's what you're looking for...

As for suggestion #1 from my post above, can we just get rid of the number you show us for the number of galleries associated with a price-list if it's not going to be accurate and since it really doesn't matter as evident by there being no number next to default price-list?

Under the old way I can go into those 10 galleries and make those changes in 2 minutes or less...2 minutes (no joke). Yes its nice to "copy" the pricelist but if I have to make a new pricelist because I have a different number of photos per sub-category, it makes it pretty worthless and MORE effort/time (that SUCKS) to do something that could originally be done in 2 minutes. For example all my galleries for this latest wedding have a gallery price of $200.99 for each sub-category (Pre-Wedding, Ceremony, Group shots, Reception, etc.) All those sub-categories do not have the same number of photos (none of my weddings ever will). I just want to change the gallery price ONLY for those 6 galleries. With this NEW system I have to create an entire new pricelist for each gallery.

Yes, you'll have to create six new pricelists for those galleries. Out of curiosity, how do you arrive at the price you'd like to make each gallery dowload and what is your per picture download price if someone does not want to download the whole gallery?

I just guess a price based on the number of pictures...no science involved. Per pic usually around $2

I am unable to price a new gallery I just uploaded today because Smugmug is currently migrating my pricelists. Not exactly a good time to be doing this since I have a client that needs her pics yesterday.
How long does this process usually take? Because now do I not only have no access to pricing right now, but I also have to learn how to manage these new pricelists.

    Hi Del,

How long has it been migrating? Can you email our help desk with your account nickname/URL and email address for us to look into?

Sorry for the trouble! We gave a heads up months ago that it was coming, in hopes folks would become familiar with the new system and migrate on their own during a more convenient time. We think you'll like the new system, and we'll try to get things migrated over quickly for you.

Thanks Steve, I was able to chat with one of the heroes and for some reason the migration was put on hold, and was able to get to the old price list again. Yes, I knew it was coming...in March...4 months later, well, a current heads-up would've been nice, especially since many of us are constantly updating/adding galleries for clients that need things asap.

I find them easier, (once I figured it out - which took a while). Last night I duplicated, repriced a price list by percentage, changed its name, slightly altered some prices to make them look more "retail", saved it as a new price list and applied it to a new gallery in about a minute. Once you've got a few set up, it is just easy as pie to use.
